Where to Find the Best Restaurants in Scarborough

The top places to eat in Perth’s sunny beachside suburb run the gamut from Nordic-inspired to pizza perfect. Which restaurant in Scarborough will you head to first?

SKOL
SKOL

Scarborough is one of Perth’s most iconic beachside suburbs, known for its impressive surf breaks, long stretch of pristine white sand and those famously laid-back vibes. Naturally, many of the best restaurants in Scarborough take advantage of the impeccable ocean views, but don’t sleep on the burgers, pizza, and slightly more inland fare from some of the neighbourhood’s hotspots.

Here’s where to find the best eateries, bars and restaurants in Scarborough.

SKOL

SKOL

A hidden slice of Scandi, SKOL is a gorgeous bar and restaurant in Scarborough, reclining on the fringe of this popular 'burb. It's a perfect spot to recline in post-swim, and enjoy a fancy feast of gravlax and oysters, stracciatella with heirloom tomatoes and peaches, charred carrots with carrot puree, dukkah and yoghurt, and boards of charcuterie and cheese. All mopped up with some delicious charred bread, of course. Expect natural wines and Scandi-inspired cocktails too. Light, bright and airy, and with service that's friendly and completely lacking in pretension, it's one of the best spots in the northern coastal 'burbs to drink and dine, to cheers and have a good time.

The Peach Pit

This fun eatery on Scarborough’s esplanade is always a vibe, making it the ideal place to head for a lively Sunday session, or for a sunset meal after a dip at the beach. The Peach Pit serves everyday beach favourites like loaded fries, burgers and fresh salads, alongside some epic cocktails (the signature cocktails are only $10 between 5 and 6pm every Monday Friday). The burgers are next-level delicious, with juicy beef and fried chicken, as well as vegan options, served in a soft potato bun with a side of chips.

General Public Food Co

A go-to restaurant in Scarborough and considered by many locals as having the best pizza in town, this cool corner eatery on Doric Street serves excellent coffee, tacos, salads and baked goods (they stock the cinnamon  scrolls from North Street Store) alongside tons of creative sourdough pizza options like the Tex Mex (with a corn and bean salsa) and a mouthwatering pumpkin and goats cheese number. It’s fully licensed, too.

Whether you’re craving pizza or want to celebrate a special occasion, the location of La Capannina offers stunning views of the Indian Ocean during the day—and a moody, glamorous atmosphere at night. The Italian menu has all the comforting favourites you’d expect, including an outstanding gnocchi and extensive pizza selection. You’re hard pressed to find a better spot to watch the sunset on Scarborough beach over dinner.

El Grotto

You’ll find some of Scarborough’s best Mexican food at El Grotto on the Esplanade, and it’s the perfect place to grab a casual and delicious meal on a summer afternoon. This breezy beachside gem has been known to host a fiesta or two, with live music, DJ sets and an impressive list of cocktails and spirits. Be sure to say 'salud' with glasses of sangria, spicy margs and mandarin spritz and tuck into barbacoa octopus empanadas and bowls of queso, guacamole and chips; it's the ultimate spot to ring in the weekend with friends.

Pizzaca

When it comes to pizza and pasta perfection, Pizzaca is the name that comes to mind. This elevated pizzeria, nestled in the heart of Scarborough, has garnered a loyal following for its authentic Italian food made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Whether you prefer a classic Margherita or something spicier (the Chilli pizza packs a punch) Pizzaca's menu has something for everyone. The relaxed ambiance and friendly staff make this eatery a go-to spot for families and locals, and for that reason alone is one of the best restaurants in Scarborough.

HellBurger

We had to include this burger joint on the list for any lovers of the classic smashed-style burger, because these guys are up there with the best in Perth. Made with regeneratively farmed 100% WA grass fed beef and fresh soft locally baked buns (they also do a near-perfect fried chicken burger), we can’t think of anything better than soaking up the sunset on Scarborough beach, HellBurger in hand.

The Corner Dairy

An inviting bar for all, The Corner Dairy sits just outside Scarborough, but is one of the best of all of Perth's 'burbs when it comes time to meet old mates, a new flame or even the future in-laws. Here, everyone is gonna be looked after, from the drinks right down to the delicious eats. That's right, they serve food and drink worth travelling from the other side of the city for. Start off small, with designed to share plates like freshly shucked Coffin Bay oysters and pig's head croquettes, to local stracciatella, with blood orange and pickled fennel, and a Wagin duck liver parfait with brioche and a black garlic onion jam. Heartier fare such like seasonal hand cut pasta and Stirling Ranges rib-eye are guaranteed table pleasers too, as are the hot chips with garlic aioli and chicken salt (because who's going to say no to that?!)

Drinks run the gamut of funky local ciders and beers, to classic cocktails and natty wines. Perfect for those weekend catch-ups, fun times lie ahead at this easy breezy charmer.
