The first taste of what’s coming to the next chapter of the Adelaide Central Market has officially landed.

Set to nearly double in size as part of the $400 million Market Square redevelopment, the iconic market is welcoming its first wave of traders — and it’s shaping up to be a seriously delicious mix.

Among the new arrivals is Adelaide Hills chocolatier Red Cacao, bringing small-batch artisan chocolates and decadent gift boxes into the city. Beloved honey specialists The Honey Shoppe — a long-time fixture of the precinct — are opening a dedicated hive-inspired store.

Madam Seafood is launching its first standalone shop, while pastry fans can get excited for the nationally award-winning creations from Banana Boogie Bakery. South Australian producer Rohde Egg Co. — which has been supplying eggs across the state for more than 50 years — is opening its very first retail stall.

Beyond the fresh produce and market staples, McLaren Vale favourite Never Never Distilling Co. is bringing a bar, dining and retail concept to the heart of the Market, and modern Japanese cafe Yuku Do will serve its cult-favourite sandos, onigiri and vibrant matcha drinks.

Meanwhile, Juan’s Torta Cantina is adding bold Mexican street food flavours to the mix, and familiar favourite Sushi Train is making a welcome return. Shoppers can also wander a curated collection of gifts, homewares and lifestyle pieces at Geranium Shop.

And the expansion doesn’t stop at the stalls. The project introduces a light-filled market hall and atrium for pop-ups and events, a new laneway buzzing with outdoor dining and nightlife, rooftop green spaces perfect for lingering above the city, and even new commercial offices, residences, and a hotel tower rising above the precinct.

When it all comes together in late 2026, the revitalised Market Square district is expected to draw over a million additional visitors each year — cementing it as one of Adelaide’s most vibrant corners to wander, snack, and discover something new.
