East of Eden
Florence Pugh playing one of literature’s great antiheroines? Sold. Zoe Kazan has turned John Steinbeck’s sweeping American classic East of Eden into a seven-part Netflix series, with Pugh starring as the magnetic and formidable Cathy Ames. Christopher Abbott and Challengers favourite Mike Faist play brothers Adam and Charles Trask, whose lives become entangled with hers as love, jealousy, family and the darker side of the California dream take hold. Ciarán Hinds and Martha Plimpton complete a cast stacked with serious talent.

Nobody Wants This, Season 3
Joanne and Noah have made it through the breakups, family drama and one very public will-they-won’t-they. Now comes the bit rom-coms usually skip — living together. The Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated series is back for a third season, with its creators calling what’s ahead “pure Champagne”, a fitting promise for more fizz, butterflies and romantic complications.
As the couple settles into life together, Joanne’s conversion brings a few new characters into the mix, from a quirky rabbi and her conversion-class nemesis to Amber, who is on her own mission to find a Jewish husband. Another new face brings a fresh complication for Joanne, while Sasha tests the dating apps and Morgan’s career takes off.
In a rare but welcome move, all ten episodes drop at once, making this one a particularly easy binge-watch.

In Netflix’s six-part thriller, Hartnett plays Calvin Penney, a stubborn single father still haunted by his own father’s mysterious death, whose already-fragile community starts coming apart when an unidentified sea creature begins terrorising the coast.
His son Wade is played by Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton, while Station Eleven and Speak No Evil star Mackenzie Davis arrives as visiting marine researcher Fonda Howander, the woman helping Calvin work out what exactly is happening beneath the water. Ruby Stokes, Rohan Campbell and Natasha Henstridge round out the cast.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story
Lizzie Borden has spent more than a century as a murder suspect, schoolyard rhyme and American bogeywoman. Now she becomes the first woman at the centre of Netflix’s Monster anthology. Ella Beatty takes on the infamous New England heiress accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892, with Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan reframing the story through repression, female rage, sexuality and the mythology that swallowed the real woman whole. Vicky Krieps plays the family’s rebellious maid, while Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Billie Lourd and Sarah Paulson join a deliciously stacked cast. This one looks bloody in every sense.
What’s New on Prime Video in October 2026
Carrie
Prom night is about to get bloody again. Mike Flanagan, one of our horror heroes and the brilliant mind behind The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, is giving Stephen King’s Carrie its first television adaptation, dragging Carrie White’s nightmare into the social-media age. Summer H. Howell stars as the bullied teenager whose increasingly brutal high-school experience coincides with the awakening of her telekinetic powers, alongside Samantha Sloyan, Matthew Lillard and Amber Midthunder. All eight episodes arrive at once, so there goes your evening come October 7.

Sterling Point
God forbid we go more than a few weeks without a new series to fill the Off Campus, We Were Liars and The Summer I Turned Pretty void. Enter Sterling Point, a glossy Canadian-island drama involving a secret inheritance, a long-lost sister, a family conspiracy and, naturally, two boys staring meaningfully across the water.
Created by My Old Ass filmmaker Megan Park, with The O.C. and Gossip Girl architects Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage behind it, the eight-part series follows tightly wound Annie after her estranged grandfather leaves her an entire island. There, she finds grief, betrayal, first love and a romantic choice between the safe option and the one guaranteed to ruin her summer beautifully.

War
Sienna Miller and Dominic West are getting the divorce from hell in War, a sharp new legal drama from the creator of Lupin and Hijack. West plays tech mogul Morgan Henderson opposite Miller’s international movie star Carla Duval, whose explosive separation becomes the case every London lawyer wants to win. Two powerhouse firms take opposing sides, dragging their partners, associates and clients into a battle fuelled by money, ambition, betrayal and reputations with plenty to lose. Archie Renaux, Nina Sosanya, Phoebe Fox and James McArdle join the seriously good cast.

Youth
If Catastrophe remains one of your all-time favourite comedies, Sharon Horgan’s new HBO series belongs at the top of your list. Horgan writes and stars as Alex, a 50-year-old London divorcee attempting to reboot her sex life while her ex moves on, her son refuses to grow up and her ageing parents demand more of her attention. Then Rupert Friend appears to complicate matters beautifully. Youth lands squarely in Horgan’s sweet spot: sex, family, ageing, bad decisions and the very funny indignity of still having no clue what you’re doing.
Slo Pitch
Beer-league softball has rarely looked this chaotic. Slo Pitch follows Joanne Pico, coach of the six-time losing Brovaries, as she tries to drag her lovable queer team towards championship glory while also surviving a very fresh breakup. Complicating matters, her ex has joined a rival team, so every strikeout, petty feud and post-game beer now comes with a little extra emotional baggage. Jess Salgueiro leads the 10-part mockumentary alongside Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire, Karen Knox, Gwenlyn Cumyn and Emma Hunter.
What’s New on Apple TV in October 2026
Brothers
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have spent years joking that they might actually be brothers. Now they’ve turned the rumour into television. In Brothers, the longtime friends play fictionalised versions of themselves whose lives implode when McConaughey’s mother, played by Holland Taylor, lets slip a decades-old family secret suggesting they could share a father. Woody promptly moves his family onto Matthew’s Texas ranch and starts digging for answers, while Matthew considers an equally chaotic run for Governor of Texas.
The best bit? The brother theory comes from a very real revelation made by McConaughey’s own mum years ago.
Nocturne
Stephen Graham as a serial killer is enough to make this an immediate yes. Apple TV’s new 10-part crime thriller stars Liev Schreiber as Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who leaves Philadelphia for a quieter life in small-town Pennsylvania, only for killer Jurek Walter to start circling his family and community.
Zazie Beetz plays FBI agent Saga Bauer, who goes undercover to get close enough to Walter to uncover what happened to his last missing victim, while Graham brings exactly the level of menace you’d expect to the role of the man at the centre of it all.
Based on Lars Kepler’s Lazarus and The Sandman, this is all cat-and-mouse tension, bruised detectives and the sort of serial-killer psychology that makes one episode accidentally become four.

Slow Horses, Season 6
Just when you thought Slow Horses couldn’t get messier, Olivia Cooke is back from the dead (yes). Sid Baker returns to Slough House for the first time since Season 1, as Gary Oldman’s gloriously dysfunctional spies suddenly find themselves the hunted rather than the hunters. With everyone who has ever worked at Slough House seemingly in danger, Diana Taverner pulling strings and a deadly game of retaliation underway, Season 6 is shaping up to be one of the show’s biggest yet.
What’s New on Disney+ in October 2026
Adults, Season 2
If Friends were made for people with private stories, fake IDs and an unhealthy awareness of their digital footprint, it might look a lot like Adults. FX’s very funny Gen Z hangout comedy is back with its five codependent Queens housemates entering what the creators have dubbed their “f**king and feeling phase of life”. Season 2 picks up after Anton and Paul Baker’s chaotic marriage-and-kiss situation, then piles on quarter-life crises, dating disasters and the creeping horror of real responsibility. Raven-Symoné, Gaten Matarazzo and Zosia Mamet also drop by. Fair warning though: it’s far too easy to binge in one sitting…
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga
Snowfall is heading back to ’90s Los Angeles, but this time the hustle is moving from the dope game to the rap game. Gail Bean and Isaiah John return as Wanda Bell and Leon Simmons, now trying to rebuild their lives as the crack epidemic gives way to the explosive rise of West Coast hip-hop. Wanda starts assembling a crew of artists she believes could reshape American culture, while Leon searches for redemption away from the streets. Music, money and street politics collide in a spin-off that feels less like a retread and more like the next chapter of the city itself.

American Hostage
Jon Hamm is stepping back into the ’70s for a true-crime story so wild it hardly needs embellishment. In 1977, Indianapolis radio reporter Fred Heckman is pulled into a terrifying 63-hour hostage crisis when gunman Tony Kiritsis, played by Giovanni Ribisi, demands to speak to him live on air. With a mortgage broker being held at gunpoint and every word capable of changing what happens next, Heckman suddenly finds himself doing far more than reporting the news. Based on the gripping true story, American Hostage turns one of America’s strangest media spectacles into a tense psychological thriller.
What’s New on BINGE in October 2026
High Country: What Lies Beneath, Season 2
Victoria’s brooding alpine crime drama is heading back to the High Country, and this time the mystery lands much closer to home. Leah Purcell returns as detective Andie Whitford, drawn into a dangerous new case that tests her loyalties and everything she believes about the community she protects. Brendan Cowell, Ryan Corr and Nadine Garner join the cast, with filming spanning Jamieson, Mansfield, Eildon and greater Melbourne. Considering Season 1 became BINGE’s most-streamed series for two consecutive months, expectations are high.
Apocalypse
Could you survive 28 days in an abandoned city with no food, power, running water or rules? That’s the rather terrifying proposition behind BINGE’s new reality experiment Apocalypse. Fourteen ordinary Australians and Brits are dropped into the ruins of a city the size of Sydney’s CBD and left to work out how to survive together. Filmed in a real abandoned town used for urban-warfare training, it comes from creatives behind Alone Australia and Squid Game: The Challenge, with Australian Survivor’s Jonathan LaPaglia narrating the chaos.
American Horror Story: 13
Ryan Murphy is raiding the American Horror Story archives for lucky number 13. Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Emma Roberts are among the all-star alumni returning, alongside familiar nightmares including Constance Langdon, Cordelia Goode, Madison Montgomery, Marie Laveau, Rubber Man and Twisty the Clown. The 13 half-hour episodes effectively play like an AHS greatest-hits reunion, reconnecting characters and stories from across the anthology before a fitting Halloween finale. If you abandoned the franchise somewhere around Season 9, this might be the reason to come crawling back.

Pride and Prejudice
Another Mr Darcy is preparing to ruin our standards. Dolly Alderton is writing Netflix’s new six-part Pride and Prejudice, with Emma Corrin stepping into Elizabeth Bennet’s muddy boots and Slow Horses star Jack Lowden taking on Darcy. Olivia Colman is Mrs Bennet, while Rufus Sewell, Daryl McCormack, Louis Partridge and Jamie Demetriou join the ensemble. Netflix is promising a witty, intimate spin on Austen’s enemies-to-lovers blueprint, and the first glimpse already has us emotionally invested.
Coming to Netflix in December 2026
The Altruists
The FTX collapse is getting the prestige-drama treatment, with Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle playing crypto’s spectacularly ill-fated power couple. The Altruists follows Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried as two fiercely ambitious young idealists set out to reshape global finance, fall in love and eventually find themselves at the centre of an alleged US$8 billion fraud. Netflix is pitching them as Gen Z’s Bonnie and Clyde, while Barack and Michelle Obama are among the executive producers. Safe to say, this one has our attention.

Yellowjackets, Season 4
The wilderness is finally ready to give up its last secrets. Yellowjackets returns for its fourth and final season with the teenage timeline creeping ever closer to rescue, while the adult survivors scramble to stop everything they buried from following them home. Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Hilary Swank are all back, with an old flame roaring into town to make an already unstable situation worse. After four seasons of cannibalism, cults, secrets and spectacularly bad coping mechanisms, we might finally get some answers.

Blade Runner 2099
The Blade Runner universe is jumping another 50 years into the future, with Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer leading the way. Set half a century after Blade Runner 2049, the eight-part series follows Schafer’s fugitive Cora as she assumes one final identity as a Blade Runner and is forced to work with Yeoh’s Olwen, a Replicant with only days left to live. Together, they pursue a runaway carrying information capable of sending their fragile Los Angeles into chaos. Ridley Scott executive produces, keeping the family fingerprints firmly on this one.

I Am Helen
Nicola Coughlan is leaving Bridgerton ballrooms behind for something far rawer in I Am Helen. The two-part drama pairs her with Gangs of London star Joe Cole in the latest chapter of Dominic Savage’s BAFTA-winning I Am anthology, following previous instalments led by Kate Winslet, Gemma Chan and Letitia Wright. Developed collaboratively with Coughlan, Helen’s story examines womanhood, control and toxic relationships inside a world shaped by masculine power. Given this anthology’s history, emotional devastation feels fairly likely.
