Pearla & Co

At North Fremantle’s Pearla & Co, the spotlight is firmly on Western Australian seafood. Helmed by acclaimed chef Scott Bridger, the menu draws on long-standing relationships with local fishers, farmers and producers, resulting in dishes that celebrate the quality of the region’s catch. Expect everything from house dry-aged fish and sustainably sourced shellfish to freshly shucked oysters, all served within the restaurant’s breezy coastal setting. Brighton Wine Bar

Perched opposite Scarborough Beach, Brighton Wine Bar pairs sweeping ocean views with one of Perth’s most impressive showcases of Western Australian wine. The venue is known for championing local producers, with an extensive by-the-glass list designed for leisurely afternoons and sunset sessions alike. On Mondays from 12pm, however, the wine selection is entirely up to you. BYO wine comes with free corkage, making it the perfect excuse to dust off a special bottle and settle in with Mediterranean-inspired plates as the sun sinks into the Indian Ocean.

Il Santo

Il Santo

Claremont has welcomed Il Santo, the polished new wine-led neighbourhood osteria from the team behind Il Lido and Canteen Pizza, with open arms. Its menu centres on creative snacks and house-made pastas, with standouts including tender Rottnest swordfish belly skewers with vibrant capsicum agrodolce, a Shark Bay prawn sandwich featuring delicate crumbed prawns on pillowy white bread, and a beautifully buttery linguine alle vongole. The Italian-leaning wine list and classic aperitivo cocktails are reason enough to settle in for the afternoon, but if you’ve got a special bottle waiting at home, BYO wine is welcome every Monday from 4pm, with $15 corkage.

Fallow

Fallow

Fallow has built a loyal following for its serious approach to steak, from premium local cuts to expertly executed dry-aged beef. While the menu makes a compelling case for splurging, Wednesdays offer a chance to keep things a little more budget-friendly, with BYO wine and just $5 corkage per person. Put those savings towards a steak upgrade instead, whether that’s the Stone Axe wagyu rump, O’Connor MB2+ scotch fillet or the restaurant’s signature dry-aged Stirling Ranges ribeye. Midweek dinners don’t get much better than this.

Lady Of Ro

Lady Of Ro

Located within the leafy streets of Subiaco, Lady Of Ro feels like one of Perth’s best kept BYO secrets — one we’re oh-so glad to see back in business after closing for a little reno and expansion.

The premise is pretty simple: delicious Greek eats, a relaxed yet quietly sophisticated atmosphere, and the ability to BYO drinks. If you’re coming as a group, the best way to experience it all is via Yia Yia’s Table Menu: an $85pp share-style set menu brimming with hits, from saganaki and charred octopus to slow cooked lamb, charcoal chicken, vine leaves and more, with complimentary corkage thrown in to sweeten the deal.

For those who prefer to choose their own adventure, the Village Menu offers a tantalising array of mouth-watering share plates, with corkage an additional $10 per bottle. Whatever you do, just know the soufra should be non-negotiable.

North 54

North 54 Dinner Nights

By day, North 54 is all about damn good banh mi, specialty sips (like the pandan coconut cloud) and moreish cookies. But every Friday and Saturday night, the venue transforms into a cool little Vietnamese bar, where you’re encouraged to BYO drinks (Oxford Cellars is right across the road) and settle in. It’s an all-new menu, but very much the same vibe you’ve come to expect from Chef Bac Pham. So in other words…delicious. Start with the prawn and crab toast with young rice, fermented mango mayo, furikake and lime, and then move on to mains like pho, bun cha and whole roasted fish.

Nico Japanese

Nico Japanese

Nico means smile, and honestly that’s the only reasonable reaction after stepping into this quaint Japanese dining gem. Located on Royal St in East Perth, Nico Japanese serves home-style teishoku meal sets and meticulous plates of premium dry-aged sashimi in a cosy indoor-outdoor setting. Sit inside and you’ll have front row seats to the Japanese chefs working with precision and care in the tiny open kitchen. While outside offers a romantic streetside ambience perfect for date nights.

Once seated, start with something raw — the sashimi is up there with the best in Perth and uses only fresh, local seafood, dry aged in-house — then take your pick of dons or teishoku sets for mains. For an unforgettable melt-in-your mouth experience, we’d also highly recommend finding room for the Futari Wagyu Flank MB 8+ on your table. Lightly seared, the steak remains tender and pink and arrives with yuzu chilli paste, fresh wasabi and Smoked Maldon Flake Salt on the side, inviting you to build your own perfectly seasoned melt-in-your-mouth moment.

Nico Japanese is BYO, so feel free to bring your own sake or sip along. There’s a liquor store right across the road if you forget.
