Daily Practice
A cafe-retail hybrid with a unique futuristic aesthetic and viral menu items, Daily Practice has arrived on Perth’s cafe scene in spectacular style. This new spot from the Nic & Kolo crew feels like a completely fresh addition to Perth’s brunch line-up, and honestly, the fitout and branding alone is worth a look. Pair with a Caesar salad wrap the size of your head and an iced matcha, and you’ll quickly see what all the hype is about.

Corner 33
Opening at the tail end of 2025, Corner 33 is South Perth’s new brunch darling, fusing Japanese influence and American diner comforts. With an ex-Nobu chef in the kitchen, the lines out the door seem warranted. Standout items include buttermilk pancakes with soy maple honey syrup, whipped ricotta and seasonal berry compote, and a panko-crusted fish burger served in a soft milk bun with cheese and tartare sauce (available after 9am).
On the drinks side of things, you’ll find loads of trending styles, from mont blancs to matcha cold foam clouds, with high-grade matcha sourced directly from Japan.

With its charming pastel blue and butter yellow colour palette and heart-warming community vibe, Juni Cafe is as adorable as it appears. Go for easy comfort treats like gooey scrolls, laminated pastries, cheesy toasties and the sweetest madeleines from Tasha Bakery. And to wash it down? A beautiful cup of matcha made with quality Little Matcha Girl matcha and a smile. Life should be this simple.

Smidge Bakery
Maylands locals cried deeply when Smidge Bakery was suddenly forced to close its popular little laneway shop. Thankfully, after a long hunt for a new space, they’ve finally landed in Leederville. And yes, those cult-favourite cinnamon scrolls are back too, along with face-sized salted caramilk cookies, toasted focaccias, brownies and more. With gluten-free and plant-based options on offer, nobody has to go without their little treat here.

Leederville has welcomed North 54 and its modern twist on the classic banh mi with open arms. Helmed by hospo rising star Bac Pham (Petition, Rockpool), this vibey Vietnamese spot serves up 10-inch house-recipe rolls packed with playful fillings—think grilled lamb meatballs with cumin labneh, son-in-law eggs with tamarind mayo, and roast pork marinated in fermented red bean. Known for their Sunday snacks and pop-up eats, this permanent residence is a welcome addition for those in the know.
There are gluten-free options, vegan choices, and standout drinks, such as pandan cloud coconut water.

Sidepiece Deli
New kid on the block, Sidepiece Deli, has wasted no time at all slotting into Perth’s sandwich elite. No surprise considering this new Swanbourne gem is from the legends behind Daisies and Other Side. Here, they’ve really stepped up their sandwich game, with a unique line-up that’s big on global flavour.
Craving a taste of Japan? Go for the tomago or fish katsu sando, served on fluffy, shokupan bread. Euro flavours more your vibe? The mortadella and labneh is an easy yes, featuring stacked deli meats, house pickles and pistachio mayo between sliced focaccia. It’s the South Asian-infused focaccias that have us gagged, though. We’re talking onion bhaji and herbed hung yoghurt, poached chicken with curry leaf mayo and crispy shallots, and Keralaan fried chicken with house made kasundi aioli.

Be Free
It may have been a Subiaco gem for five years, but Be Free has officially relocated to East Perth, and it’s one of the best new cafes on the scene. Specialising in local, seasonal organic produce that’s fresh from the farm to your table, Be Free is all about nourishing food that tastes as good as it looks. The menu is packed with wholesome, vibrant dishes—think rainbow salad bowls, house-made granola, and protein-packed brunch plates—alongside stellar coffee and fresh juices. With its light-filled, leafy space, eco-conscious ethos, and community vibe, Be Free is a refreshing addition to Perth’s cafe culture.

Opening in the Leederville end of Mount Hawthorn, Earl’s has blessed Perth with all sorts of comforting, meaty deliciousness wrapped up in hoagies, flat breads and focaccias. Think hot roast beef, braised pork shoulder and melt-in-your-mouth roast lamb that may bring on genuine tears of joy. There’s also a banging crumbed tomato schnitzel and super popular chicken and avo smash. Think: gourmet panini stacked with mortadella and pickled veg, classic continental rolls bursting with flavour, and an ever-changing line-up of small-batch stars—from slow-cooked meatballs to zesty salads. Pop in for a quick bite, or settle in with a tiramisu and coffee worth clearing your calendar for.

Lovers Deli & Canteen
Step into Lovers Deli & Canteen, where retro charm meets culinary craftsmanship. This nostalgic gem—founded by the duo behind Good Things Cafe—was another one that slid in right before the end of 2024.
The interiors, dripping with vintage flair, boast timber panelling, chrome counters, and plush diner booths, evoking a moody wine bar vibe.
The menu, a nod to old-school comfort with a modern twist, also features indulgent blood pudding muffins, gorgeous salmon breakfast plates with cream cheese, pickles, watercress, and rye, toast topped with heirloom tomatoes and jamón, and vibrant green eggs.
