Staples Bagels

Staples Bagels Dropped an Insanely Delish French Dip Special

We love our bread, we love our butter, but most of all we love a chance to dunk our carby delights into a rich beef jus. If you do too, run to Staples Bagels in South Fremantle. For this month only, they’re doing an epic French Dip Bagel special that needs to be devoured. Picture lashings of rare roast beef, caramelised onions, provolone cheese and horse radish aioli inside a chewy bagel, with a side of rich beef jus for dipping and a serving of pickles to break through it all. Heaven in bagel form, basically.

Boatshed Market
Boatshed Market

Boatshed Market: Perth’s Answer to Erewhon—But Better

Perth’s Boatshed Market has been hailed as Australia’s answer to Erewhon, the ultra-luxe LA supermarket famed for its organic produce and cult-status hot bar. But according to foodies, Boatshed might be even better. Housed in a former boat-building facility, this refined grocer delivers top-tier produce, an ever-changing hot food counter, a dedicated cheese shop, and a world-class fishmonger. The Wine Loft and Boto Teppanyaki Japanese restaurant elevate the experience further.

With a hyper-focus on premium local ingredients, it’s a bougie food lover’s paradise—like Erewhon, but with an Aussie soul and a whole lot more flavour!

Coming Soon to Cottesloe: A Bold Southeast Asian Diner With Chin Chin DNA

Another beachside dining gem is on the way, with the iconic Cottesloe Beach Hotel today unveiling plans for Tigerfish—a design-led Southeast Asian bar and dining concept arriving this summer.

The wow factor will be instant, with creative interiors designed by Melbourne-based Projects of Imagination (the same guys behind Chin Chin in Melbourne). Picture golden-hour hues, terrazzo floors and soft furnishings, backed by the most spectacular ocean views and a hum of energy from the open robata grill.

Swing in post-swim for spicy bites and handcrafted cocktails at the striking curved bar, or grab a hidden lounge, cosy booth or your own private dining room and linger longer as you work through the fresh share plates and extensive wine list. Either way, Tigerfish promises to bring a bold, energetic atmosphere worthy of its iconic Cottesloe beach location.

Opening this summer on the corner of John Street and Marine Parade. Stay tuned for updates.

Bert’s City Beach

Bert’s to Bring Beachside Heritage and Seasonal Eats Back to City Beach

The team behind The Rowing Pavilion and General Public Food Co — Mark Pearn, Nic Strachan, and Evan Hewitt — are set to open Bert’s at City Beach this Friday 3rd of October. The new venue (replacing Odyssea) pays homage to the historic 1930s–70s “Bert’s Shop,” once a local surf hangout and tea room.

Bert’s will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, takeaway coffee, and a menu of seasonal, locally sourced dishes including pizzas, sides, and shares. Designed with Woods Bagot, the space blends timbered heritage with contemporary coastal style, reflecting a casual, beachside vibe.

The restaurant aims to celebrate the local community and surf culture, bringing a nostalgic yet modern twist to City Beach.

Eggspot

Eggspot Expands, With a New Location Coming to Como

Soft, pillowy brioche buns stuffed with velvety scrambled eggs, crispy hashbrowns, and all the right fixings—Eggspot is proof that simple done right is downright magical. Their indulgent breakfasts never miss, so we’ll gladly welcome a new spot into our hearts and bellies. While the precise location hasn’t been revealed (they’re currently taking guesses on socials), they have revealed it’ll be in Como close to Curtin Uni, Perth Zoo and McCallum Park Basketball court.

Coastal King Kailis Looks North, With a $12 Million Beach Buy

Perth restaurateur and undisputed king of coastal dining George Kailis (Gibney, The Shorehouse, Magic Apple and more) has just secured a landmark $12 million purchase in Sorrento that promises to bring a world-class beachside hospitality precinct to Perth’s north.

Committing to the entire hospitality space attached to the high-end Ora Sorrento residential development on West Coast Drive, the unprecedented investment includes 1000sqm of prime beachfront hospitality real estate, which Kailis already has solid plans for.

“We will endeavour to set a new benchmark for hospitality in Perth’s northern suburbs with high quality, unique restaurant offers that are very different to what currently exists. We are also committed to an extremely high level of interior design which will showcase the brands and the panoramic ocean views over Sorrento beach,” he said.

Kailis and the KHG team are keen to replicate the success of their Cottesloe fine diner, Gibney, by engaging Rezen Studios—the designers behind Gibney’s jaw-dropping fit out—to bring this new vision to life. And they’ll also be carrying across key members of their award-winning hospitality team, like Group Sommelier Nina Throsby and Group Bar Director James Gentile, to ensure the new hospitality offering is every bit as impressive.

With so much real estate on hand, KKG will be operating as both tenant and landlord, bringing three to four complementary venues together for one integrated vision—a challenge Rezen Studio Director Zenifra Bowring is excited to take on.

“The opportunity to design multiple restaurant concepts within such a unique coastal precinct is incredibly rare,” said Bowring.

“The scale of this project, combined with its beachfront location, provides us with the chance to create a truly world-class dining environment. Following the success of Gibney, we’re excited to collaborate again with KHG to deliver distinctive hospitality experiences that will set a new benchmark for Perth’s northern suburbs.”

They say good things take time, so don’t expect to be dining here anytime soon. KHG expects to commence work on the hospitality spaces in late 2026 / early 2027, with opening dates still very much TBC. For now, you can follow Ora Sorrento and Kailis Hospitality Group for updates.

Crown Perth To Welcome Moody New Wine Bar, Gladstones

Part cellar door, part bar, and all class, Crown Perth’s newest venue, Gladstones, will reflect the beauty and calibre of WA’s illustrious wine scene. Its name a nod to Dr John Gladstones AO, who famously saw the winemaking potential in Margaret River.

Expect rich textures, dim lighting and soft furnishings that invite intimate moments of connection, all while enjoying top drops from local winemakers. Whether you’re at Crown for a show, dropping in after a game at Optus Stadium or staying a while, the new space will offer a dedicated wine oasis for locals and visitors alike.

Gladstones is the first venue to be unveiled as part of the new Urban Food District, marking the biggest investment in Crown Perth in over a decade. Located just a short stroll from Optus Stadium and adjacent to Crown Theatre, the new development will include a vibrant international food court, three new bars, a hidden speakeasy and a lively beer garden. Construction is already underway, so keep those eyes peeled for opening dates.
