H&C Urban Winery

Within this jarrah-clad enclave, you’ll discover an ever-changing drinks menu designed to make you forget how you even got there. Many book well ahead at Wildflower for its Western Australian farmer-forager menu revolving around the six Indigenous seasons. But the best city and Swan River views from this stylish restaurant situated in the Como The Treasury is from Wildflower’s rooftop bar. Many claim the hand-painted mural opposite the lifts was designed to play with your mind, while others blame their woozy demeanour on the dizzying heights. Let’s face it, with the option of spending the night cocooned within this luxe hotel, any silliness is probably attributed to the extensive spirits and wine list, garnished with Purple Rain and Pisco Disco.

Bar Lafayette

Reminiscent of a gentleman’s club with its chesterfields, jarrah floors and moody tones, the only thing old-fashioned about Bar Lafayette are it's cocktails! There's also a predominantly international wine list and many local beers on offer, but the saucy-sounding cocktail list features names like Naked in Vegas and Watermelon Millionaire, so you shouldn't leave without at least trying one. Burrata, chicken karaage bites, cheese boards and charcuterie are a delightful accompaniment to the ‘insider’ banter favoured by suits sitting sharply around the bar.

Set within the historic Perth Technical College in Brookfield Place, make a night of it, and continue on to W. Churchill, Print Hall and Bobeche.

No Mafia

As a playful nudge towards Northbridge’s checkered past, antipasti, pasta and vino are the starring attractions on the southern Italian menu at No Mafia. White anchovies, wild boar truffle salame and handmade pappardelle with braised duck and mushrooms are our our picks, alongside a bottle of prosecco or a drop from Tuscany or the Veneto region. Followed, of course, by the Italian tradition of an ‘amaro’, an after-dinner digestif - sip on housemade limoncello and settle into your booth for the long haul. Magnifico!

This is one new neighbourhood wine bar you don't want to miss. A cracking drinks list matched with Chef Aaron Read’s fire-fused eats can be found at Sonny's. Set on a leafy corner of Mount Hawthorn, enjoy the retro details throughout, the passionate, friendly and inclusive staff and the cosy vibes abundant. Drink great wine and be fruity, as you share fun plates like smoked fish mantecato dip with blue corn chips, salt-baked beetroot with grains and tahini, and scallops with shiitake butter with friends. Headed up by the talented Jas from Tapas Addicts, the newest addition to Leederville’s bar scene is a beautiful, bright and stylish space, where you can come, sit and savour some of the best cheeses on earth, as well as  sliced meats, olives, arancinis and home-made focaccia. Al Lupo Bar

Does North Fremantle have a new ultimate beachside hangout venue in Al Lupo? This easy-breezy albeit sophisticated bar, cup-runneth-over with Italian flair, can be found on the edge of Leighton Beach. It’s walk-ins only here, so mosey down after your swim and settle in for some exceptional food and refreshing cocktails. 

You'll find it a little too easy to while away the afternoon hours at Al Lupo, as it also serves up a 100-strong wine list, with a focus on Italian varietals and lo-fi wines in particular, to match it's lo-fi elegant setting. Sunset views and glass of orange wine, yes please and thank you. 

Food wise, the menu ranges from bar bites to shareable plates. Be sure to dive in to the salmon crudo for something zesty and refreshing, before indulging in the spicy lamb hotdog.

Alabama Song Bar 

PhatLon

Perth's first Vietnamese style tapas bar, PhatLon is one of the best new bars in Perth offering both impeccable cocktails and dining to match. It's stemmed from one family's desire to bring this unique dining atmosphere and ambience to one of Perth's most diverse neighbourhoods - and we cannot get enough! Since opening in March 2022, Vinotto is the cosy wine bar we all wish was in our neighbourhood. Residing in a former bookshop, it's one of the best bars in Perth for relaxed sips and delectable bites. Going solo? You’ll likely be inspired to curl up with a good read as you enjoy a drop of French, Spanish, Italian or Greek varietals. Rich sherries and vermouths round out the drinks list, sitting comfortably alongside local drops and innovative non-alcoholic options.

Astral Weeks

That's the sound of one of the best bars in Perth calling your name. Opened last year in Northbridge's Chinatown precinct, Astral Weeks is cool with a capital C, inspired by the great listening bars of Japan. Yes, you read that right - this is Perth's first hi-fi listening bar, an acoustically-treated sanctuary where the hand-built sound system will draw you in via the smoothest of sounds. Bar staff and guest selectors play records on the all-analogue Line Magnetic piece. Drinks wise, you're looking at a strong focus on high-quality Australian and international wines. as carefully considered as the records on the turntables. Lots of lo-fi wines, plus a great mix of beers and sake too.

Frisk. Small Bar

The gin-fuelled Frisk. Small Bar lays claim as Perth’s first gin bar, and there's no wonder why so many still declare it the best, with over 200 gins available to try on the menu, including a large proportion of those made in Western Australia. Whether you're a fan of a classic G&T, or want to shake things up with a fun cocktail like Honey I Drunk the Kids, you're bound for delicious refreshment here. Plenty of snacks and cheese boards too, which will help to absorb your sins. Sneaky Tony’s

Down a laneway and behind a hidden door in Northbridge’s steamy Chinatown, is where you’ll deliciously discover a contemporary take on prohibition, not to mention over 300 different types of rum. Assuming of course that you can find it, and secondly, they let you in. You’re going to need a password on weekends to enter this speakeasy rum bar, revealed on their socials. Sneaking around Northbridge and hunting down pina coladas in the rain is half the fun.
