Located within the newly opened Hyde Hotel on Pier Street, the aesthetic rooftop terrace overlooks the hotel’s pool and neighbouring heritage buildings, so you feel completely wrapped up in your surrounds here. One of our favourite Highgate hangouts, The Beaufort boasts so many stylish spaces, it can feel a bit like a maze, especially with all the plants. But if you follow the stairs up, you’ll soon find yourself sipping on a sun-kissed terrace overlooking the bustling streets below. The venue is more pub than bar, so expect a relaxed, buzzy vibe where mingling is encouraged.

AGWA Rooftop

Siting high above the Art Gallery of WA, AGWA Rooftop not only delivers in Insta-worthy skyline views, but it’s a favourite for culture fiends. While sipping on bespoke drinks crafted by local breweries and distilleries, guests can meander through the open-air sculpture walk featuring works of art from the State Art Collection. No wonder so many well-travelled patrons compare the AGWA Rooftop to New York City’s Met Roof Garden Bar.

Sitchu Tip: This one opens up over the spring and summer months from 4pm until late on Fridays and Saturdays. Keep an eye on socials to check for the latest, though, as they can often be closed for events.

Located only a few stories up, Mechanics Institute may not offer the highest viewpoint, but it’s by far one of Perth’s most-loved rooftop bars, and has been for over ten years now. The iconic small bar is known for its relaxed atmosphere, expertly crafted cocktails and beloved bartenders, so you’ll want to head straight in and scope out what’s shaking and pouring before grabbing a seat on the rooftop deck.

Sweetwater is an East Fremantle favourite. Its garden-style rooftop serves up incredible Asian-inspired bites and equally impressive cocktails, all with views across Fremantle Port and the Swan River. Hello Rooftop Bar occupies the top end of Northbridge’s multi-storey Rechabite venue, serving creative cocktails and easy-going drinks in a relaxed open-air setting. With gigs, DJs and shows streaming through the venue below most weekends, the rooftop is a favourite for those chasing a breath of fresh air between dances. But regardless of what’s on, there’s always an eclectic, afterdark energy about this spot that goes down very well on nights with no curfew.
