Queensland Museum – World Science Festival Brisbane

World Science Festival Brisbane

Back again for it’s 11th year, World Science Festival Brisbane is continuing its mission to inspire curiosity with a jam-packed event schedule, perfect for all ages. There will be robo wars, live sessions by Dr Karl, an Ask an Astronaut talk with Katherine Bennell-Pegg and so much more.

Where: Events will be taking place across the city but will be centered around Queensland Museum and South Bank Cultural Centre

Apple & Grape Harvest Festival, Stanthorpe

This iconic harvest festival, dedicated to the produce of the granite belt, is back again for its 60th year. Across two weeks, everyone and anyone is invited to participate in the packed events schedule that includes ticketed and free events. Think street parades, the famous grape crush, food markets, buskers and a gala ball.

Where: Stanthorpe (main festival hub centres around High and Maryland Streets)
When: Thursday 5th March to Sunday 8th March & Thursday 12th March to Sunday 15th March

Sample Mexico City’s Finest Tacos Right Here in Brisbane

A Michelin Guide-recommended Mexico city taqueria is popping up in Howard Smith Wharves this March in a delicious La Mexicana takeover. The two-week residency will see two chefs from El Vilsito serve up their celebrated tacos, paired with margaritas, Mexican cocktails and entertainment.

Sunday scaries? Distract yourself with Ovolo Brisbane x Château Minuty’s Frosé Sip N Dip Sundays. Taking place each Sunday in March, you’re invited to spend two glorious hours sipping on bottomless Chateau Minuty Frosé, whilst lounging poolside with a backdrop of soulful tunes.

Olafur Eliasson: Presence

Don’t miss this immersive exhibition by Berlin-based artist Olafur Eliasson, challenging viewers perceptions via major installations, sculptures, photo series and more. Exclusive to Brisbane, the interactive exhibition is designed to be a collaboration between viewers and the artist, commenting on how we give shape to our experience of the world and how that differs person to person. The one directive? Be present.

Highlights include Riverbed 2014, a recreation of a rocky stream with running water, and The Cubic Structural Evolution Project 2004, an all white lego city that is built and rebuilt by viewers as the exhibition progresses.

One of our favourite ways to score new threads, Fashion Thrift Society is back with stall after stall of local brands, handmade clothing and one-of-a-kind items. Stories You Wear: Magpie Goose

Exclusive to the Museum of Brisbane, this exhibit connects audiences with the world’s oldest living culture through wearable art. Curated in collaboration with sustainable and Aboriginal-owned label Magpie Goose, the collection features First Nations creatives from across the country, with a particular focus on South East Queensland. Journey through the stories, textures and processes of different communities, whilst learning more about sustainability and fashion in Australia.

Dog-lovers assemble because Brisbane’s biggest dog festival is back. Across two days, you’ll be spoilt with plenty of action, from displays of speed, skill and teamwork to one of the biggest doggie supermarkets you’ll ever have the pleasure of browsing. There will also be a breed showcase, adoption zone and a slew of expert presenters, sharing their expertise.
