Our little river city has been working overtime to catch up with its arguably more cosmopolitan counterparts, and we’re well and truly in the running now.

New Chip n’ Mix Goes Viral in Noosa

Chips aren’t just a side dish, and this fun new self-serve fry bar in Noosa is proving it!  Chip n’ Mix is basically just Yo-Chi but for fries – allowing you to self serve portions of potato chips into tubs, to then top with sauces, cheese, meats and veggies of your choice! On opening day, hungry Chippers lined up down Hastings Street, waiting for their moment to load up a tub of fries with the epic toppings. After completely selling out of potatoes in their first weekend, it’s safe to say that there’s an appetite for DIY loaded fries.

If you’re a certified chip queen, you have to check this spot out when you’re next in Noosa Heads.

Shane Delia’s “Layla” Opens

The Thomas Dixon Centre is welcoming Melbourne foodie royalty in 2025, as the centre transforms into a multipurpose events and dining destination. Melbourne-based chef and restauranteur Shane Delia is bringing his flair for bold, Middle-Eastern flavours to the culinary hub of West End, where hungry diners can expect to go on an unrestricted spice journey at his first-ever Brisbane venue.

Layla will open its doors to the public on the 28th of March, welcoming diners into a moody main dining room and sunny outdoor courtyard. Soon to become a popular destination for private events, pre-theatre dining and celebrations, Layla is primed to become one of West End’s most popular foodie hotspots.

Head Chef Simon Palmer (formerly of Black Hide by Gambaro, Urbane, Gerard’s Bistro and E’cco Bistro) will be working closely with Delia to craft a spice-forward, modern menu with widespread global influence.

Yo-Chi x KeepCup Sells Out in Record-Breaking Time

Chi fans, we have good news and bad news. The good news is that Yo-Chi has collaborated with KeepCup to create an ultra-cute, eco-friendly solution (that also makes your Yo-Chi keep longer, if your eyes were bigger than your belly at the self-serve station).

The bad news is that they sold out online in record-breaking time! There are limited quantities available in-store, and in even better news they’ll be restocked once more later this year if you don’t manage to get your mittens on one!

Visit your local Yo-Chi store to snag one of your very own.

Brothers Nehme and Adonis Ghanem have taken over the heritage-listed Fox Hotel in order to transform it into a multi-story dining precinct, due to reopen in late 2025.

The interiors will respect the hotel’s legacy, retaining its Art Deco charm and heritage features, whilst adding a diverse and eclectic new aesthetic that will add to the ambience of your dining experience.

Detour’s Fortitude Valley Pop-Up

Once a beloved dining destination in Woolloongabba, the Detour team sadly closed their doors to Brisbane late last year. But thanks to an opening within the East Street dining precinct, they’re returning to serve top-notch fare once again with a three-month residency.

With sustainability at the core of their business, the Detour team are also passionate about inclusive dining–which is evident through their predominantly gluten-free menu, and divided herbivore and carnivore menus which make it easy for diners of different dietary persuasions to enjoy.

Make a reservation to enjoy the fine fare at this restaurant while it calls the sparkling, fairy-lit East Street home.
