Spy a Pink Moon Rising over Sydney This Weekend
In what promises to be a spectacular sight, a luminous pink moon will grace Sydney skies on Saturday April 12th and Sunday April 13th.
While the name does suggest the moon may take on a rosy tint, the moniker actually refers to the full moon of April, and is derived from the blooming of pink phlox wildflowers in North America during springtime.
If you missed last month’s blood moon, April’s lunar show promises to be just as unique, as it also happens to be a “micromoon”. The moon will be at its farthest point from Earth, making it appear sightly smaller when viewed from the ground.
