Percy’s Playground
While it’s technically an off-shoot of the Stirling Arms Hotel, Percy’s Playground is all about the kids. The welcoming outdoor space is anchored by a nature playground from Nature Based Play (the same crew behind Clancy’s popular playground in Fremantle), with sand pits and plenty of toys to cater for younger kids too. Better yet, they’ve popped a marquee up over the entire venue for winter, making it perfect for drizzly days when everyone’s craving fresh air. Honestly, it’s hard to top the riverside ambience at Maylands’ Peninsular Farm Cafe. Okay, hear us out. Yes, Chu Bakery often has a line down the block, which is not the kind of thing you want to deal with when you’re dragging kids along, but if you pop your order in the day before, you can swing past, pick up your baked goods and coffee, and head straight over to Hyde Park, where a playground and sprawling lawns await. All the baked goodness and lush park play, minus the wait time.
