Espresso by Day, Vino by Night: These Perth Venues Do Both
Perth's cafe-to-wine-bar pipeline is shaking up the old hospitality rules, and we're here for it!
In 2026, a new kind of local is sweeping Perth. Across the city, a wave of cafes are quietly extending their hours past the usual 3pm close. Once the baristas have clocked off, they’ll dim the lights, swap the single origins for natural wine lists, and transform from neighbourhood cafe into neighbourhood wine bar in a flash.
Some do it with small plates and a carefully curated by-the-glass list. Some take a casual approach with plastic stools sprawled out on the street and permission to BYO wine. And some open just once a month with set menus so coveted, they sell out instantly.
One thing’s for sure: Perth’s cafe-to-wine-bar pipeline is shaking up the old hospitality rules — and we’re here for it. These are our favourites.
Butters
Encased in greenery, the street front courtyard at West Leederville coffee house Butters has long drawn Perth’s cafe crowds. But a smart switch-up in 2023 saw them pull plenty of wine-loving locals too — a mighty achievement given the venue’s proximity to the wildly popular Besk Bar & Bottle Shop.
By day, the cosy cafe turns on the charm with perfectly poached eggs, silky mushroom medleys and mesmerising diner-style pancake stacks doused in butterscotch sauce (this fave has come on and off the menu, so best checking before you go if you’ve got your heart set). Inside, baristas who know their single origins from espresso roasts helm the bar, churning out cups of liquid gold in quick succession.
Thursday through Sunday, though? The venue invites you to linger a little longer. Sunlit afternoons invite breeze-tinged rounds of spritzes, olives and cheese in the courtyard. Evenings lean moodier: a bottle of wine and a curated spread of share plates beneath festoon lights. There’s no rush to order, eat and move on. This is your excuse to lean in.

The Bridge House
Located in North Fremantle, inside a 100-year-old cottage,The Bridge House, and its quaint French countryside-style charm, feels like a local secret.
Since taking over the former Harvest and Habitue site in 2024, the venue has served enchanted evenings that lean elegant and romantic: an alfresco that hums with bristling leaves, a cosy dining room that glows with the flickering of candlelight and tables that unfold over decadent Mediterranean-inspired plates and good wine.
But this year, The Bridge House set its alarms for a softer start. Brunch has now found its place in the gorgeous sun-dappled courtyard every weekend, and it feels just as chic. With good coffee and contemporary brunch dishes like Turkish eggs, forest mushrooms and truffle burrata, chorizo chilli scrambled eggs, and a showstopping tiramisu French toast, we’d say the wake-up call is worth it.

North 54
Playful Vietnamese cafe, North 54, opened with damn good banh mi, specialty sips (like the pandan coconut cloud) and moreish cookies as its focus, but it didn’t take them long to add after-dark feasting to its repertoire.
Every Friday and Saturday night, the venue shifts gears. Evolving into a buzzy little Vietnamese bar, where you’re encouraged to BYO drinks (Oxford Cellars is right across the road), grab a plastic stool and settle into the streetside energy.
It’s a completely different menu, but very much the same vibe you’ve come to expect from Chef Bac Pham. So in other words…delicious. Start with the prawn and crab toast with young rice, fermented mango mayo, furikake and lime, and then move on to mains like pho, bun cha and whole roasted fish.
Sitchu Tip: Seats are limited and bookings are highly recommended if you’re keen to dine in after dark. Otherwise, you might have to wait 15-20 minutes for a table.

The Cool Room / Off Licence
Set in an unassuming suburban shopping arcade in Fremantle, alongside a vintage furniture boutique and one of Perth’s coolest young florists (Ugly Bunches), The Cool Room’s retro tables spill out into the car park, packed with hungry brunch goers every weekend. A quick glance across each one should be enough to convince you that Chef Drew Dawson and partner Charlotte Beeton’s refreshingly simple approach to good food is worth your appetite.
The Danish-inspired sourdough bun plate (sourdough bun, soft boiled egg, cheese, compote) feels like a revelation, made even better with the addition of crispy bacon. While the silky, soft-set omelette, filled with Meredith goat’s cheese, mushrooms and chives, celebrates the simple brilliance of culinary class and first-grade ingredients in a true melt-in-your-mouth moment.
With the daily cafe flow nailed, their after-hours pop-up, Off Licence, soon entered the fold. A monthly chef’s dinner is now a regular fixture in the calendar. The menu changes, but it’s always underpinned by BYO wine and that same honest, produce-driven approach, just with a more creative lens. Honestly, it feels like you’ve scored an invite to your cool friend’s private dinner party. No night is the same, but one thing is guaranteed: it will sell out.

KITH
Specialty sips, dreamy breakfasts and a funky vibe. Kith made its mark from the get-go, and rightfully remains one of Perth’s most-loved cafes. Swing by at prime time, and that love affair is definitely evident. A hunt for a park, a wait for a table, and at least a couple of hungry eyes on your table, willing you to eat and move on, are often part and parcel. Trust us, though, what’s happening here is worth the minor inconveniences that come with being popular.
Head Chef Alex Turner will win you over with his masterful outlook on flavour and fusion, pulling inspiration from all over the globe. For a fresh start, you have to try the Scandi Plate featuring gin-cured salmon, whipped nori butter, soft-boiled egg, Appenzell cheese and rye toast. The Chilli Scrambled Eggs are also a standout. Think fluffy eggs laced with chilli on a chewy toasted sourdough, capped off with fried shallots and oodles of fresh basil, mint and coriander.
From 4pm Thursday to Saturday, a more relaxed sundown energy takes hold of the Nedlands hot spot. Snackable shares like gildas, padrons, red curry clam frites and baked vodka pasta are passed between conversations, with a tight edit of local and international wines and chilled aperitifs on hand to wash down whatever the day throws at you.

Bar Vino
Bar Vino is Mount Lawley’s sleek neighbourhood coffee spot turned sultry Italian wine bar.
Arrive early and you’ll be greeted by the aroma of Willing Coffee’s exceptional local roasts and passionate staff who diligently obsess over your coffee order. Coupled with a simple but on-point breakfast menu (think eggs your way, lemon ricotta hotcakes and grilled ciabatta topped with avocado, feta, lemon and chill), days feel relaxed and delightfully European.
As light dissipates, cafe regulars drift out and the aperitivo crowd swans in. With over 100 wines by the glass and a solid antipasti and formaggio list, it’s easy to lose track of time sipping and snacking past sunset. Keep your evening going with a glamorous Italian dinner date brimming with WA’s finest produce and luscious handmade pasta courtesy of Sal’s Pasta. With a dining room this beautiful, it would be rude not to make a whole night of it.

The Little Bay
The Little Bay has dominated the beachside breakfast scene for years, with a coastal chic vibe feels right at home alongside the turquoise waters and white sands of Watermans Bay. Its menu heroes seasonal local produce across modern Australian favourites. Smashed avo, eggs benedict and the big breakfast plate all have their place, with inventive tweaks here and there to keep the classics feeling fresh.
Once a month, the idyllic venue transforms into an elegant beachside diner for the evening. Each time, you’ll find a fresh set menu inspired by a different cuisine or theme. The first took us to Italy for housemade focaccia, beef carpaccio, mushroom arancini and Calabrian chicken. Next month, things take an even more decadent turn, with two five-course truffle dinners on the cards. If you see a menu that takes your fancy, you’ll wanna act quick to secure a seat.

Arrival Hall
A creative brunch haven tucked within one of Perth’s most beautiful design stores, Arrival Hall already has a lot going for it. Its daytime menu feels as imaginative and inspirational as the stylish home decor on show, with wide-spanning international influences woven throughout, from beautifully plated smoked salmon smorrebrod and iconic mushroom and baba ganoush toasties through to scrambled eggs with stir-fried kimchi and miso pork belly.
Its new sundowner session brings more creative share plates, cocktails and DJs into their lush little Northbridge space. On every Friday from 5pm, Sundown Fridays is all about creating space to unwind with loved ones at the end of the week. No set menu, just chef’s picks — serving what’s fresh and what’s good that week. Backed up by laidback vibes and a delish little sip, this is the ideal way to ease into your weekend.
