Gluten-Free in Sydney? Eat Here, Stress-Free
Coeliac-safe dining, without compromise. These Sydney restaurants go beyond token GF options—offering thoughtfully designed menus where gluten-free isn't an afterthought, but the whole point.
Finding a truly reliable gluten-free restaurant in Sydney that coeliac diners can actually trust is still rarer than it should be. Plenty of venues have a gluten-free dish or two buried at the bottom of the menu as an afterthought, but only a handful actually build their kitchens and menus around coeliac-safety from the ground up.
From refined fine dining to low-key locals, these are the best gluten-free restaurants in Sydney where GF isn’t a limitation, it’s the standard. Happy eating!
The Botanica Vaucluse
Think of this as Sydney’s gold standard for gluten-free dining. The Botanica Vaucluse is 100% gluten-free from kitchen to plate and comes with a Coeliac Australia accreditation to prove it. Expect a seasonal, produce-driven menu with serious polish: long lunches, curated wine, and a completely stress-free experience for coeliac diners who just want to eat well without the stress.

AALIA
This genuinely feels like one of the CBD’s most exciting dining rooms. AALIA’s Middle Eastern menu leans naturally gluten-free and is anchored in fire cooking while using grains like rice and corn. It’s not a dedicated GF venue, but it’s widely considered one of the safest high-end options for coeliacs in Sydney. Couple that with an ingredient-led philosophy and staff who actually know their stuff and you can feel safe knowing you’re in good hands.

Yellow
This Potts Point institution has quietly become one of Sydney’s best gluten-free fine dining options. Yellow’s plant-based degustation is built around vegetables, flowers, and seasonal produce, meaning gluten rarely gets a look-in anyway. Staff are also known to accommodate coeliac requests thoughtfully, making it a go-to for a special occasion where the food does all the talking.
Fun fact: Zendaya was spotted dining here in 2024! We all know she’s got good taste so we award this one double points.

Esteban
Tucked into a CBD laneway, Esteban’s modern Mexican menu is almost entirely gluten-free by nature (we’re looking at those delicious, handmade corn tortillas). The menu is based around share plates so it’s great for groups with dietaries and there’s plenty of fire and spice to keep things interesting. Also, the whole menu looks to be GF excluding one dessert so practically nothing is off limits. Plus, the margaritas will wash things down a treat making it a very fun coeliac night out indeed.

Yulli’s
A Crown Street institution since 2008, Yulli’s is a Surry Hills vegan stalwart running a dedicated gluten-free menu alongside its regular one. It also goes one step further by flagging which dishes are coeliac-safe versus those with cross-contamination risk… how thoughtful! It’s not a fully GF kitchen, but the transparency is rare and genuinely appreciated.
Overall, fully gluten-free restaurants in Sydney are still few and far between, but the ones doing it well are setting a new benchmark. Whoever said you can’t have a great dinner out as a coealiac has clearly never tried one of these joints!
