Sitchu’s Content Producer Shares Her Perfect Weekend in Melbourne
From sifting through clothing racks at market stalls to dancing the night away, Sitchu's Content Producer wouldn't have her weekends in Melbourne any other way.

I consider myself a true Melburnian. Born and raised in the same cosy childhood home in the eastern suburbs, I never moved until mid-2023, when I began living with my partner. I didn’t travel much as a child either, so Melbourne is all I really know—and I adore it.
From hidden gems that only locals know about—discovered through word-of-mouth or pure luck—to viral hotspots with lines out the door, Melbourne is a city of endless variety. As a cultural and events hub, it’s easy to get swept up in everything happening, sometimes to the point of decision paralysis. I get it—it happens to me, too.
While the city’s vibrant calendar often disrupts routine, I’ve come to appreciate the comfort of regular, small joys to look forward to. So, I’ve put together my ideal weekend in Melbourne—whether you’re looking for inspiration or just a little nosy (I know I would be).
Saturday

Get Moving with CorePlus Pilates
There’s nothing I love more than a morning sweat sesh—on one condition. I can’t be the one directing the workout; otherwise, it’s never going to happen. Booking myself a morning hot mat Pilates class at CorePlus) forces me out of bed and sets my weekend off on a healthy, positive note. I lengthen, strengthen, and wipe my face with a sweat towel every two exercises—it’s fun, I promise! I always leave feeling accomplished, productive, and ready for the day ahead.

Time for Brunch
After heading home and freshening up, I love treating myself to brunch as a post-workout reward. I’ll rally up the girls or grab my partner and head to one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. My go-to spot is Peddler Cafe—I can never say no to their EBC (eggs, bacon, and cheese) pide and a piping-hot cup of Prana Chai—so you’ll often find me pulling up a chair at this busy little gem.
That said, I like to switch it up—Melbourne is a brunch-lover’s paradise, after all—so I’m in an open relationship with Peddler, so to speak. I have a thing for toasties, and lately, I’ve been loving Piccolo Panini Bar and Hector’s Deli. Seriously, whoever created the Mushroom Melt and Tuna Melt at Hector’s Deli deserves to get every green light for the rest of their life.

Afternoon Shop, Anyone?
High Street, Armadale—you have my heart. I don’t know whether it’s the aesthetic boutiques, the lively ambience as you wander past bustling cafes, or if there’s simply something magical in the air, but shopping along High Street is far superior to the overstimulating experience of harsh lights and overflowing car parks that so often comes with shopping centres.
I’ll stop by Green Cup to pick up the Hailey Bieber Glaze Smoothie before wandering down the street, window shopping to my heart’s content and resisting the urge to step inside every boutique. Sooner or later, I’ll cave— typically by the time I reach Stylerunner or MECCA—where I’ll inevitably pick up an item (or two) I never knew I needed.

When the Night’s Calling
When you live in Melbourne, the world is your oyster on a Saturday night. Staying in feels almost criminal when there’s so much happening. For me, what I get up to depends on my mood… or whether my friends roped me into buying tickets to a DJ set weeks in advance.
There’s two ways my Saturday night might go. If I’m not trekking to a gig at PICA, my partner and I will head out for a dinner date and see where the night takes us. Lately, that always seems to be Sistine—a sultry new cocktail bar on Chapel Street, where the staff are as lovely as the drinks they shake up.

Rise and Shine with Some More Shopping
How’s your head feeling this morning? Great—because we’re heading to Hunter Markets!
I don’t have the patience to sift through every single item in an op shop and try things on, but I do love finding my favourite pieces for a fraction of the retail price. Hunter Markets is the place for that. It’s where you’ll find current-season pieces at discounted prices or stumble upon absolute gems in need of a new home. Case in point: I once snagged a brand-new-with-tags $600 Rachel Gilbert dress for just $150. Pure insanity!

From One Market to Another
Our tote bags are full, but our stomachs aren’t—so it’s off to South Melbourne Market!
Coming here never gets old. I love roaming through the halls, mentally planning what I’m going to eat, then circling back once I’ve made my decision. More often than not, it’s a focaccia from UGO Burrata Bar or a gözleme from the food hall. Afterwards, I’ll sample the latest flavours from Cannoleria and admire the stunning blooms at the florist. Unfortunately, I don’t treat myself to fresh florals as often as I used to—my precious kitten makes that a little tricky—but I can still appreciate them from afar.

Get Those Steps Up
I hope you dressed in activewear and laced up your sneakers this morning because we’re heading to Albert Park Lake!
I’m trying to get more into running this year, and a massive motivator for me is scenery. If I love where I’m running, I’m far more inclined to actually do it, and there’s nowhere I’d rather run than around the stunning Albert Park Lake. The atmosphere is unmatched—you pass by fellow fitness enthusiasts, exchanging encouraging smiles and nods as you cross paths.
After my workout, If I’ve remembered to bring a book with me, I’ll find a neat patch of grass, sit down, and read while I cool down. It’s perfectly tranquil.
Sunday Night Reset
By the end of a busy week, I’m always pretty knackered, so nothing beats spending a Sunday night in. My partner and I like to pick a recipe and spend the evening in the kitchen together, cooking up a storm over a glass of wine. While I’d love to say we sit down at the dinner table, in reality, we usually make a beeline for the couch, cosying up with our meals as we search for a movie to watch.
If I’m not on the verge of a deep slumber once the film is over, I’ll turn on my Kindle and read at least 10 pages of a book before drifting off. At the moment, I’m reading Good Material by Dolly Alderton, and I can confirm—it is indeed good material. Escaping my own reality and stepping into another is my favourite way to fight off the Sunday scaries and ease into a new week.
‘Til next time, weekend.
