Perhaps its biggest drawcard is its proximity to the stunning Cataract Gorge. One of the biggest tourist attractions in Launceston, Cataract Gorge offers multiple walking trails with dramatic views, cruises, kids’ parks, a café, and an outdoor pool that’s always packed during summer.

Secondary school-aged children can easily travel to prestigious Scotch Oakburn College or Launceston Church Grammar School.
One of the biggest appeals of West Launceston is its location. Just 5 minutes from the city, you’re never far from shopping, cafes and restaurants, and medical facilities. Launceston General Hospital is located just outside of West Launceston.
While West Launceston is limited when it comes to dining, on the edge of the suburb you’ll find Cuccina Café, a popular breakfast, brunch and lunch spot. Launceston CBD has a multicultural mix of restaurants, bars and cafes just a short drive away. Many of Launceston’s best restaurants are located just past Cataract Gorge overlooking the Tamar River.
