The Missing Piece in Your Wellness Routine: Enter Sage Space

Ritualistic, preventative dental care - that you actually look forward to - is the new in thing...and we love it.

Sage Space

Some wellness routines are easier than others to maintain. Facials, saunas, massages and yoga are all pleasant experiences so booking them in is never a chore. But the dentist? It’s not one we’re typically chomping at the bit to pencil. But times have now changed, thanks to Sage Space. This luxury, preventative dental studio is full of surprises (we're talking jaw massages that will change your life) as well as delicious details and extra special touches.

These guys have shaken things up to an extent never before seen in the dental health scene in Sydney and we're quite literally counting down the days until our next appointment. Hear us out...

Kick Things Off with a Personalised Bevvie (and Playlist)

The Sage Space experience begins well before you slip through the sleek doors. Prior to your appointment, you’ll receive a text enquiring as to your musical preferences (or tv show) as well as your choice of arrival drink - still water, sparkling water or tea - that will be waiting for you as soon as you open the door. If you’re feeling nervous about your clean, the thought of Gilmore Girls playing on a screen above your seat is the perfect cure.

The Concept

Sage Space is the brainchild of Founder, Dentist and Design Graduate Corbin Barry. Corbin found a few too many of his patients weren’t engaging in preventative dental care so decided to put the glam back into routine cleans. How? By sorting you out with an experience you can look forward to.

“Between working as a dentist for nearly a decade and leading the practice at Annandale Dental, I’ve come to see a few leaky holes in the boat that is the dental industry. Namely, the lack of preventative dental care for reasons like cost, fear and, to put it plainly, a hatred of visiting the dentist. All of which leads to painful, costly emergency dental work,” says Corbin.

Corbin continues, “I wanted to create something completely unique to the industry that doesn’t feel like it has anything to do with traditional healthcare because let’s face it, hospitals, traditional dentists' offices and the like, are pretty triggering. Between the white lights reminiscent of an interrogation room, the stinging scent of antiseptic and scary-looking tools on display it might look clean but it certainly ain’t pretty".

The Sage Space, on the other hand, is more than a little pretty, offering preventative dental in the form of rituals of self-care in the most divine setting imaginable.

The Space

You’ll be forgiven for thinking you’ve stumbled into a groovy interior design studio or decadent day spa. Each ‘space’ within the clinic is demarcated by different floor materials that range from timber to herringbone, carpet to mosaic tiles. A striking reception leaves you with plenty to look at including a swish range of wellness products available for purchase. Before your appointment you’ll be able to freshen up in the dedicated brushing station that is a moment unto itself and a wander through to the treatment rooms just keeps on delivering. We'll genuinely be popping back for the interiors alone.

The Rituals

With a focus on prevention, Sage Space encourages their clients to begin with the essential ritual which involves a deep clean, check-up and stain removal. For follow-ups, the ritual selection ranges from specialist whitening to TMJ jaw massage.

Sage Space's ritual offerings are designed to encourage prevention in a way that is most applicable to you. The soothe and protect ritual addresses the effects of grinding and clenching whilst the deep clean involves two appointments and is targeted to deliver a thorough TLC session on your gums. Need a quick little freshen-up before an event? There’s a ritual for that, too.

Sage Space

We're all here for a focus on preventative dental care, after all, who wants to shell out for expensive and painful dental work further down the line? We'd much rather swing by Sage Space on the reg, treat ourselves to a jaw massage plus clean and soak in the Maison Balzac scented air, sip on minty water and leave with fresh pearly whites.
