This Japanese Dining Precinct is the Antidote to Your Tokyo FOMO
Looking for a slice of Tokyo in Sydney? Head to Prefecture 48 for a memorable progressive dining experience!

If it feels like your Insta feed is full of pics of people in Japan, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Japan is the new Euro summer and whilst it’s about 14 hours closer than Spain’s sandy beaches, for some of us that’s still not quite close enough.
Enter Prefecture 48, Sydney’s very own Japanese quarter. Whilst it’s not Golden Gai or Ginza, it’s as close as you’re going to get without a plane ticket and a passport. Offering up a progressive night out, you can float your way from whisky bar to robata to kaiseki and omakase, with each venue offering a completely new experience. And it doesn’t stop at the food. The entire precinct is littered with commissioned pieces of art that capture different cultural moments and practices, from ikebana installs to pixel panel pieces and murals. Gear up for your own Tokyo experience…

Dear Florence
As far as patisseries go, you won’t find anything more aesthetic in all of Sydney. Celebrating the infusion of French technique into Japanese patisserie culture, Dear Florence offers the best of both. Precision, skill and elegance are woven through the range of signature cakes and freshly baked seasonal tarts that are displayed in this minimalist space. You can expect unique flavour combos that range from Japanese whisky canelé madeleines to a range of take-home sudachi curd and Japanese citrus marmalade. In line with the tradition of Omiyage, your goodies will be packaged to perfection, offering a sublime experience from start to finish.

Ibushi
If you’re after a lush lunch or dinner that is at once relaxed and sleek, Ibushi is a hot ticket. Watch on as the chefs prepare multiple courses cooked over charcoal. This elevated robata grill restaurant goes beyond classic yakitori, playing with textures, temperature and flavour. With a lunch banquet menu coming in at $69 per head, we think it’s one of the best value (and tastiest) lunches you’ll find in the CBD.
