The Best Restaurants in North Sydney

Soluna
Soluna

Soluna

We love a restaurant that caters to any vibe, and Soluna absolutely nails that. Light-filled and relaxed interiors meet a bright and fresh menu inspired by the vibrancy of LA. An indoor and outdoor bar, dining room, all-weather courtyard, and 30-seater lounge offer a space for any mood. The food itself can't be boxed into a single cuisine and instead takes inspiration from the freshness of Mediterranean and Asian flavours.

With so much to try, where should you start? We have it on good authority that the sourdough spaghetti with roasted garlic miso and black pepper is a must-order. Finish with sweet and savoury feta, thyme and honey madeleines served straight from the oven with a warm honey dipping sauce.

Genzo

Genzo recently touched down in Sydney in time for all the Japanese summer spam you're about to receive. Centred around robata grills and delicious snacky bites, you can expect a fusion of flavours, from avocado and Vegemite on crispy rice cake to Japanese curry scampi.

For those after something a little heftier, larger dishes include a roast duck and house-made soba noodle tsukemen. A temperature-controlled sake room, a 100-strong wine list and Japanese-inspired cocktails are the icing on the cake.

A dish and glass of red wine from North Sydney restaurant Antica
Antica

Antica

From the same restauranteurs behind the Hatted Entrata at Glenhaven, Antica serves up authentic Italian dishes that honour tradition while embracing modern culinary techniques.

Set within a meticulously restored 1909 heritage-listed house in the heart of North Sydney, the menu showcases Italian cuisine from the land to the sea. With impeccable service, you'll feel just like family, with every meal guaranteed to be memorable.

Sitchu Tip: We dare you to attempt to stop at just one scallop to start. The Pansotti, house-made pasta filled with butternut pumpkin, chestnut and ricotta, is also a dish not to be missed.

196 Miller Street, North Sydney

Poetica

Poetica is a refined and light-filled restaurant and bar that we recommend booking yourself a spot at quick smart. The 120-seat space boasts a 700-bottle wine wall, dry-ageing cabinets and a 15-metre-long open kitchen. Stone, copper, wood and burnt honey upholstery contribute to the relaxed yet luxurious aesthetic.

Head chef Connor Hartley-Simpson's menu champions local produce as well as cooking methods that have stood the test of time—from pickling and fermenting to wood-fired and charcoal. You can expect to see dry-aged swordfish cooking over the fire before being caramelised on the hot grill, while leek tops are charred in the Josper. As for the wine list, vintage gems and beloved classics make up the 450-strong offering. One for the bucket list!

Sitchu Tip: Do not leave without sampling the wood-grilled Sugar Loaf Cabbage!

The drinks list is definitely worth a look, with their botanically inspired cocktails and premium beverage offering, as well as a curated wine list by the in-house sommelier.

As for the food, you can expect fresh, seasonal flavours from former Chin Chin chef Pete Fitzsimmons. Perfect for an after-work drink or weekend sesh, this garden oasis takes casual dining to the next level.

Loulou Bistro

Lavender Bay's French bistro has quickly become one of North Sydney's go-tos for fabulous French fare. Loulou is a bistro, boulangerie and traiteur. The dishes are recognisable French classics but with a lighter technique. Think crab soufflé omelet, hand-cut steak tartare with potato crisps, rotisserie chicken, pâté en croute and, of course, a glass or two of bubbles!

Sitchu Tip: If you're popping by for lunch, be sure to swing past Lou Lou's Boulangerie next door to stock up on fresh loaves and French treats.
