Out of the Blue

Tasty and dependable, Out of the Blue is about as true an example of a classic fish and chip shop as you’ll find. It’s cheap, cheerful, and family-run – just as good a takeaway joint should be. Serving up arguably the best fish and chips in Sydney under $20, OTB keeps it tight and tasty offering a choice between hake and sustainably sourced New Zealand hoki (opt for the latter, trust us) to accompany its perfectly golden chips.

Lode Pies

Lode Pies truly are masters of their craft. Their Instagram is a sight to behold with lamination and layers creating a visual feast. But for the best feast of all, you’ll have to get your hands on one of their pies.

If you’re feeling fancy, their pithivier is on the pricier end but is worth every cent. It takes three days to make and features an incredible ‘chimney’ through which chicken sauce can be poured. Filled with free-range pork and shitake mushrooms, it’s a flavour bomb if ever we’ve had one.
