Frontside Food & Wine

Frontside Food & Wine

This is our favourite cafe in Port Melbourne for summertime catchups, with sun-dappled outdoor seating made for chatting over coffee, and feasting on delicious bites; think nduja scramble with a hot honey glaze, fancy open toasts and a seriously good pork cheek benny. Inside is just as pretty, warm and welcoming, and come lunchtime, dishes turn to heartier fare like chicken cotoletta and duck ragu pappardelle.

Turn things up a notch by indulging with a glass or two from Frontside's rather impressive wine menu. Gruner Veltiner from Austria, anyone?

Lilijana Eatery

Hold up...is this the best spot in Melbourne for a deli plate? Lilijana Eatery is a beautiful new cafe in Port Melbourne, offering a delightful taste of Eastern Europe and the Nordics, and bringing together heartwarming comfort foods and a story that spans continents. Named after the owners' late Nonna, Lilijana was born in what is now Slovenia. She fled war, journeyed through France, learned Italian to woo her future husband on a “love boat” to Melbourne, and eventually became a beloved figure in local establishments like the San Remo Ballroom and Slavonija Deli.

Lilijana Eatery carries on her legacy, blending her spirit of warmth and hospitality with a modern twist. The menu, curated by Head Chef Chris—who sharpened his skills and love for Nordic techniques while playing ice hockey in Sweden and Finland—celebrates the art of pickling, fermenting, and hearty baking. Expect house-baked pastries, rustic sandwiches, salads, and a deli selection, all crafted to pair perfectly with a cup of coffee or a refreshing house-made soda.

Stepping into Lilijana feels like being welcomed by family; it’s a spot where cultural histories blend seamlessly on the plate, making it not just a cafe but a genuine homage to love, life, and food.
