There are plenty of incredible displays to be found right across the city, so we’ve made a list of our favourites to help you narrow it down.

While you’re on your way to do some Christmas shopping or enjoy a Christmas Day meal, why not drive by some of these gorgeous festive instalments to bring a little extra peace, love and joy to your heart this silly season?

As per usual, Brisbane City has pulled out all the stops to ensure Christmas goes right ahead feeling the way it should. Here are the events and inner city Christmas lights in Brisbane that are not to be missed. 

Enchanted Garden

The sell-out experience is back in 2025 for another round of pure magic! The Enchanted Garden once again descends on Roma Street Parklands to bring that magical feeling to Christmas lovers of all ages. 

Wander through the gardens at your own pace and immerse yourself in installations, light projections and magical scenes.

There will also be on-site food trucks and a pop-up licensed bar serving up seasonal treats, making your night all the more special. 

From $9.50 per person

Lord Mayor’s lighting of the Christmas Tree

The Lighting of The Christmas Tree

The Lord Mayor’s lighting of the Christmas Tree is something that must be experienced at least once in a lifetime by any Brisbane local.

On Friday the 28th of November, head down to King George Square to watch live musical performances before Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner illuminates the 22-metre Christmas Tree that will sparkle in the heart of the city for the entirety of December. Australian Idol winner Dylan Wright will be serenading the crowds and there will even be an all-new fireworks finale illuminating the sky.

This annual event marks the beginning of Christmas events across the city, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome in the festive feels!

Brisbane City Hall Lights

City Hall Lights

Always one for an opulent display, this year is no different when it comes to the Brisbane City Hall Christmas light show.  Festive Christmas scenes are projected onto the Hall with accompanying music to make for an enthralling event for littlies and adults alike! 

This year’s tale, A Christmas Blackout, written by Melissa Sailsbury, follows the story of Ned and Ted, two brothers worried Santa won’t find them in their new apartment.

The show runs every fifteen minutes from 7.30pm to midnight until Christmas Eve and is a magical way to immerse yourself in a Christmas story and light show. 

Every 15 minutes, Friday 5th December to Wednesday 24th December, 7:30pm to midnight 

City Hall, 64 Adelaide Street, Brisbane City

Sono Lumo

Sono Lumo, the City’s Largest Christmas Festival, Is Back!

Hurrah! It’s time to immerse yourself fully in festivity because Sono Lumo is back for 10 nights of sound, light and magic. Each night, between 6pm and 10pm, the riverfront will transform into a haven of seasonal eats, live entertainment, pop-up bars and DJs, all set to be enjoyed alongside sound and light shows playing at The Landing.

This year’s theme is Steampunk City ,so you can expect a glorious Victorian-era revival, complete with a seven-metre inflatable airship bar.

6pm to 10pm, Wednesday 10th December to Sunday 14th December & Wednesday 17th December to Sunday 21st December
