Food markets are one of life’s greatest pleasures. Come the weekend, or even a sneaky midweek lunch, we love nothing more than wandering through rows of stalls, smelling delicious morsels in the air and deciding which treat is next on the menu.
From special events to dedicated vegan markets, Brisbane is home to a fair few of these shrines to flavour. Fancy sampling the best? Read on for a curated edit of the best Brisbane food markets…
Brisbane City Markets
Perfect for an easy lunch break feast or to stock up on groceries for the week, the Brisbane City Markets are a popular destination for a snack. They host a weekly event across the city in three different locations, where you’re invited to wander the stalls in search of the flavour that will sate your cravings. With regular vendors serving your new favourite dish or donut, you’ll also get to experience fun new food with occasional pop-up stallholders that are ready to tantalise your taste buds.
Amongst the foodie stalls, you can shop from creators, makers and artisanal producers, making these markets your weekly dose of arts and crafts, too!

Brisbane Vegan Markets
For every type of vegan food, snack or skincare you haven’t yet heard of, enter the Brisbane Vegan Markets! It’s the best way to discover new vegan products as well as try tasty samples that will have you coming back for more. Don’t forget to bring a hearty appetite, as the tantalising scents of sizzling burgers or warm and sugary doughnuts prove (very) difficult to resist. We tried.

Eat Street Northshore
A mere fifteen minutes from the CBD, nestled on a historic wharf on the Brisbane River, lies an enormous market metropolis bursting with hot food, cold refreshing drinks and quirky stalls to browse through.
This Brisbane food market proved so popular that it had to be upgraded to a larger site on the Northshore so that it could accommodate over 70 traders. Five themed bars, eclectic shopping stalls and micro restaurants from six of the world’s seven continents are all housed in repurposed shipping containers at Eat Street.

You’ll discover gifts, artisanal wares and handmade pieces, along with Japanese-style ceramics, gift cards and journals. Once you enter the street food section, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped in Dotonburi with the sheer volume of heavenly-scented takoyaki, dango and so much more.
