Surfers Paradise Suburb Profile

There’s a reason this beachfront strip attracts an incredible number of visitors each day. Its well-earned reputation for being the Gold Coast’s premier party town, combined with the sun-drenched beach, makes Surfers Paradise one of Queensland’s top destinations. But stop for a moment and you will see that Surfers Paradise works as well for families as it does for 20-somethings.

Living in Surfers Paradise
The Locals

Sun-up to sun-down, living in Surfers Paradise means immersing yourself in a place that loves to show off. Its towering skyline hugs the famed stretch of beach, and the streets offer a profusion of eateries, cafés, bars, and nightclubs. Needless to say, Surfers Paradise has a hectic social calendar, but it does little to detract from its laid-back vibe, which comes with a hint of cosmopolitan glamour. Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise Boulevard, and the surrounding streets cater well to holidaymakers, from high-end retailers to beachfront markets, and fine dining establishments to hole-in-the-wall eateries.

When it comes to entertainment venues and activities, the choices are endless. But no place draws a crowd quite like the beach, with its incredible stretch of sand, surf culture, and annual events. Living in Surfers Paradise also means having access to tranquil waterfront homes, parklands, and neighbourhood shops that offer a welcome respite from the lively tourist energy. When locals want to truly escape the hustle, the lush surroundings of the Gold Coast Hinterland region are only moments away.

Area Features

Beaches

Surfers Paradise Beach is the area’s star attraction. Running between Main Beach and Broadbeach, this wide sandy stretch with impressive surf conditions has garnered world-wide attention, especially with its line-up of annual events.

Nightlife and Entertainment

The nightclubs and bars along Cavill Avenue and surrounding streets have been known to attract tens of thousands of visitors nightly during peak times (especially during Schoolies). Extended trading hours and popular eateries cater to those less inclined to party.

Beachfront Markets

The weekly pop-up Beachfront Markets along the Surfers Paradise shoreline offer hundreds of stalls brimming with locally-made jewellery, fashion, art and homewares.

Backpackers, 20-something revellers and well-heeled travellers aside, people from all walks of life call Surfers Paradise home. Families, empty-nesters and retirees’ find the coastal lifestyle and year-round balmy weather hard to resist.
