South Australia has quietly been building one of the country’s most compelling tourism stories — and the 2025 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards made it impossible to ignore.

Walking away with three gold, five silver and three bronze, the state isn’t just collecting accolades, it’s proving that the experiences here have personality, depth, and a touch of magic.

Spirit of the Coorong took gold for Tour & Transport Operators. And this isn’t a boat ride — it’s a journey through wetlands that feels cinematic, where every bend in the water offers a new story. The Big Duck Boat Tours, also taking gold in Ecotourism, turns wildlife encounters into moments that linger long after you leave.

Meanwhile, Woodhouse Adventure Park doubled up, winning gold for Unique Accommodation and silver for Adventure Tourism. Here, adrenaline and comfort coexist perfectly, whether you’re ziplining through the trees or winding down in one of its quirky cabins.

South Australia’s cultural pulse was on full display too. Adelaide Fringe earned silver for Major Festivals & Events and another silver for Excellence in Accessible Tourism.

The regions held their own. Old Coach Road Estate in Hindmarsh Valley claimed silver for Self-Contained Accommodation, and Monarto Safari Resort was awarded the silver for New Tourism Business. Seppeltsfield Barossa scored bronze for Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries, proving our wine country is as refined as it is scenic.

Smaller, local favourites also shone. Monkey Nut Cafe and Streaky Sounds Music Festival both earned bronze in Restaurants & Catering Services and Accessible Tourism.

Taken together, these awards aren’t just a tally of wins — they’re a statement. South Australia is a state that knows how to craft moments that stay with you.
