While it may be more deli than cafe, you can certainly still visit the team at Spread for a great cuppa Joe and a bangin' sandwich. New to Unley, this venue has already made a lasting impression on locals, with the chic and funky space open for good times from morning to evening. Stop by and stay a while, or order from the 'Quickie' takeaway window, where your toughest decision will be if it's a toastie loaded with ingredients like mortadella, mushroom, bacon and straciatella, or a fresh sando with all the trimmings. If you happen to visit on Friday, try and snag the Steak Frite sando special with salsa verde and Cafe de Paris spread.

Fratelli Italian Deli

Next time you're craving an Italian roll over a sando, head straight to Fratelli Italian Deli on Prospect Road. This family-run deli is all about Italian flavours and hearty rolls inspired by the way they do things in New Jersey, and it's definitely helping them stand out in the sando-strong scene of Adelaide. Open since late October 2023, locals are already flocking to Fratelli for their fix, with the sandwich standout one even Joey Tribbiani would approve of - the 'How Ya Doin'' comes with crumbed chicken cutlets, vodka sauce, stracciatella and basil pesto. Delicious!

Hey Juj

Head south of the CBD and say hello to McLaren Vale's freshest breakky gem Hey Juj - a vibrant café by day, wine bar by night, and a community hub for locals and visitors alike. Founded by local 22-year-old Elliott Brown, and led by renowned chef Kelly-Jayne Grech, Elliott's journey began in the very building at twelve, and now, he brings his love for hospitality back to his home suburb after a stint in the CBD. Named after his grandma, 'Juj,' the cafe not only serves fantastic food and beverages but also offers fresh flowers, local goods, and a convenient bottle-shop. Hey Juj is a modern and fresh space with groovy interiors that feels like home away from home, and with everything from breakfast bao buns to acai bowls and the signature 'sando of the day,' the delicious menu makes it easy to find a favourite dish.

Homesick Henley

Opening their doors just in time for summer days, Henley Beach has a new cafe dishing up our favourite breakfast dishes in a homey spot that's all about community vibes. With the owners focused on making this cafe a go-to spot for locals to visit regularly for great coffee, quick bites and interesting conversation, Homesick Henley is home to a tasty menu and warm and welcoming interiors, with no pretentious energy in sight. With loaded sandos leading the charge as everyone's favourite quick bite, there's also juices and pastries - perfect for those on the go, or for some fuel before taking a stroll along the glistening Henley Beach.

Mr Chu Cafe

While Mr Chu Eatery may already be loved by locals who frequent the Asian fusion brunch spot on The Parade in Norwood, many will be pleased to know that the team have extended their offering, very recently opening up a cosy yet chic cafe in Burnside Village. The new cafe focuses solely on brunch and lunch dishes, bringing with it their signature Southeast Asian flavours to spice up your regular brunch, as well as crumbly pastries, premium coffee and - for those feeling a little cheeky - breakfast cocktails to start the day with a bit of fun. It's a modern and sleek space that's perfect for your next coffee catch up.

Discover SUSA at Aston Hills, the latest venture by dynamic sister duo, Taylah and Maddi Canny. The happy hospo team are behind the beloved Lady Luck café in Mount Barker - a hotspot since January 2021 - so these girls know a thing or two about running a successful cafe. SUSA, which means "sister" in Pidgin, pays homage to their Papua New Guinean roots, and this spot is where heritage meets heartwarming hospitality.

SUSA's menu is a delightful blend of wines, coffee, brunch treats, and fresh juices. Plus, it's not just about food – the opening has created new jobs in the local community. Swing by from 7am from Wednesday to Saturday, or 8am on Sundays. Keep an eye out for evening hours down the road, and until then enjoy your morning coffee and a yarn at SUSA!

Nauti Buoy 

Nauti Buoy has quickly set sail into our brunch loving hearts with its winning combination of expertly crafted dishes, stellar Henley Beach location, convivial atmosphere, warm interiors and bubbly service. It's easy to slip into an easy-breezy state here, with a coffee in hand and the kitchen slinging out favourites like sourdough crumpets layered with seasonal jam and Paris Creek salted butter, crepes with ginger ice-cream and mandarin, and  breakfast burgers housed within an English muffin. Larger fare of  Spencer Gulf King Prawns, with cucumber yoghurt, free-range eggs, nduja, pineapple, corn, green chilli, kaffir lime, and fermented potato bread, and a sophisticated take on fish and chips are also terrific.

Lady Luck

Luck be a lady at this rustic, coffee fuelled retreat high up in the Adelaide Hills. So get your boot scootin' boots on and journey to bustling Mount Barker's Lady Luck, a sweet spot that sprung from the minds of two sisters. The global and ever so tasty menu includes falafel bowls and avocado toast with turmeric-pickled radishes, poached eggs with herb labneh, avocado, haloumi and rose harissa, breakfast gnocchi, sticky date waffles, oyster mushroom congee, pina colada crepes, and all the De Groot coffee. You do not want to miss out on a weekend brunch session here. We repeat. Do not miss it.

Any Given Sunday

Retro minimalism is at play at this new Cheltenham cafe. Step inside the light-filled corner store that is Any Given Sunday and prepare to have your fill of Serbian-style pastries, expert coffee, and in keeping with the site's former life, an array of everyday essentials like eggs, nut butters, pancake mix, olive oil, cereal and milk. The short and sweet menu features local coffee from White Horse Coffee, and pastries and pies from Skala Bakery.

There's bacon and egg brioche rolls, sauteed mushrooms and Swiss cheese toasties, croissants, BLT's, housemade iced tea and more. Be sure to try their homemade gibanica – a buttery Serbian filo with cheese filling. It's only available on weekends, so be sure to come back for more, on any given Sunday that is!

Pinco Deli

Stop the (sandwich) press! Adelaide has a slick new sandwich shop in town, and she goes by the name of Pinco Deli. There are eight classic sandwiches and focaccias on the menu, that go big on freshness and flavour. Tuck into a prosciutto with fior di latte and basil, or a ham, cheese and Napoli sauce focaccia, or enjoy a toasted pastrami and piccalilli sandwich, with Swiss cheese and secret burger sauce, all while enjoying the retro yet futuristic vibes of the space, more akin to an art gallery than your average lunch stop. The focaccia? Fluffy. The quality of the ingredients? High. The coffee? Excellent. The approach? Simple yet 10/10 on taste. Kudos, Pinco, kudos.

Butter and Toast

Sourdough doughnuts, yes please! If you're a regular at the monthly Gillies at the Grounds, or pick up fresh produce every Sunday at the Adelaide Farmers Market, you'll have been enticed by these beautifully soft, delicious doughnuts before. Now Butter and Toast are taking big steps with their very first brick and mortar space. They'll also be adding a range of croissants, and a 'Bake of the Week,' to their repertoire. Enter into their light, bright and airy cafe and get set to make an impossible choice on which flavours to pick. Classics like raspberry and nutella sit in fluffy rows aside more adventurous alternatives of pandan, pistachio and Thai milk tea. The cafe also serves coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

The Gator Club

Vegan food truck Later Gator has put down some charming plant-based roots in Adelaide's East, with the opening of The Gator Club. Upon entry, expect a light-filled haven filled with plant-based bakes and gluten-free goods (hello, biscoff butter cake with white choc biscuit ganache), and vegan cafe fare aplenty, alongside a sweet array of artisan wares to take home with you.

Kombucha and nitro brew coffee are on tap, and there's plenty of colourful, warming botanical brews that will have you sipping your way to nourishment and vitality. 

On the food front, smoothie bowls, avo toast, tofu scramble and their toasties are all lip-smackingly scrumptious. You need to try their beloved mac 'n' cheese toastie - it'll be one epic serve of notzarella for you!

Bobby's 

Filling a coffee-and-bagel-shaped hole in Warradale's cafe scene, minimalist Bobby's is a polished ray of light hidden amongst a row of non-descript shops. As you're munching down on fresh pastries, stacked bagels and expertly crafted D'Angelo coffee flat whites, you might even spot the cafe's namesake, Bobby the adorable French Bulldog!
