Art Meets Bondi at Sculpture by the Sea

Once again, Sculpture by the Sea is transforming thestunning coastal walk between Bondi and Tamarama into the world’s largestannual free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibition. One of Sydney’s mostphotogenic exhibitions, Sculpture by the Sea artists use the natural landscapeto create intriguing and thought provoking works of art, which literally stops people in their tracks.

Celebrating 20 years, Sculpture by the Sea are exhibiting morethan 100 works by Australian and international artists, including artists fromAsia, Europe, New Zealand, South America, UK and the USA. A selection of 20Australian artists, who have previously exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, havebeen invited to exhibit again this year for their role in the strength and developmentof sculpture in Australia.

Attracting over 500,000 visitors during the 18-day open-airexhibit, Sculptures by the Sea captures the imagination of visitors by encouragingpeople to interact with the art or to simply absorb their place. Among theseworks, artist Inge King AM, who passed away in April at 100 years of age, willbe honoured with two works from different stages of her career forming part ofthe exhibition.

If all this wasn’t enough to get you out and walking one ofSydney’s most renowned walks, Sculpture by the Sea is also hosting a series ofartists talks every weekend between 11am and 3pm, featuring both local and internationalexhibiting artists. And if you want to extend your sculptural experience thatlittle bit further, the inaugural Sydney Sculpture Conference will take placeat Sydney Opera House on Thursday 27 October. Leading international andAustralian speakers in their field will discuss the importance, impact,challenges and opportunities of sculpture in public space.
