Lightscape
Lightscape is bringing its epic large-scale lightworks back to Kings Park this winter (5 June to 26 July), with an enchanting new trail brimming with glowing displays of magic crafted by leading international artists. Start with a mulled wine or hot chocolate, set off on a kaleidoscopic stroll, then grab a comforting treat from one of the food vendors to finish as you debrief on all your favourite displays. Harry Potter™: A Forbidden Forest Experience
An interactive Harry Potter experience is coming to the Perth Hills this winter, bringing the fantastical, spell-casting magic of the wizarding world to Kalamunda’s Jorgensen Park from 12 June. Choose your Hogwarts house, explore iconic moments along a sensory after dark trail and visit the themed village that awaits at the heart of the experience.

Set inside the State Building’s elegant heritage walls, the Cape Arid Rooms are normally reserved for Perth’s finest high tea. Steak Frites at Margot’s
Forget girl dinner, this winter the girls want steak! And thankfully, with a little help from the kind folk at Margot’s, it doesn’t have to break the bank. Each Wednesday, they’re plating up a generous serving of steak frites with a glass of wine for $45. For $5 extra, you can make the frites bottomless. For $10 extra, you can add on a half dozen oysters. And for $15 extra, you can go for one of their iconic martinis. We’ve never booked anything so fast.

So when we heard they were launching a new Friday sundowner series, bringing share plates, cocktails and DJs into their lush little Northbridge space, we took note. Kicking off this Friday from 5pm, Sundown is all about creating space to unwind with loved ones. No set menu, just chef’s picks — serving what’s fresh and what’s good that week. Perth’s newest country-themed bar, Yee-Haw, has officially hit its stride, with a rowdy new five-day-a-week line-up of line dancing (7.30pm to 9pm), live music and good ol’ country fun, including a new bucking mechanical bull every Wednesday for anyone brave enough to hop on. If you’re craving a night out, this is it. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 7pm til late. Entry is usually free, and you can slide on to the guest list online for priority entry before 10pm.

MJ The Musical
Offering a rare glimpse behind the curtain of one of music’s greatest icons, MJ The Musical brings the magic, the melodies and the moves to Crown Perth from Saturday 6 June to Sunday 19 July. One of WA’s most significant celebrations of Aboriginal art is returning to Boorloo this April, with the Revealed Aboriginal Art Exhibition. Popping up quarterly, within the University of Western Australia’s Winthrop Hall and its scenic grounds, is the city’s original and largest design market: the Perth Upmarket. Between beautiful old buildings, cloistered courtyards and sprawling gardens, you’ll find over 180 stalls filled with quality clothing, homewares, artwork, jewellery, and gourmet foods from some of the city’s best makers. With coffee and food vendors on site, be sure to pause to admire the heritage Romanesque architecture built from local Tamala limestone and Donnybrook sandstone.
