With skyscrapers, charming buildings, and power suits aplenty, living in Sydney CBD means being in a buzzing business hub with a playful side. There’s always something going on, something to see. The excitement, coupled with the convenience of city living, is why locals love calling it home. During the working week, the city is a hive of activity, with people filling up the incredible cafes and restaurants dotted around the CBD and Barangaroo, shopping in the many malls and arcades, exploring art galleries, or soaking up the sun in Hyde Park and the Botanic Gardens. In the evenings, the nightlife and entertainment scene lights up. Locals and commuters can stroll around the harbour or drop into restaurants, bars, cinemas, and theatres. On the weekends, the city is a playground for locals and tourists. People spend their days wandering along the harbour foreshore, reading, exercising, and picnicking in the many green spaces, and shopping up a storm in some of Sydney’s prominent fashion precincts.

In Sydney, style doesn’t go unnoticed. It has slews of shops within its borders, so whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. The streets are dotted with stores, but the big players are Pitt Street Mall, The Strand Arcade, the Queen Victoria Building, The Galeries Victoria and the multi-level Westfield Sydney.

Parklands

While the rest of Sydney focus on the Botanical Gardens, Barangaroo Reserve and Hyde Park (and who can blame them with incredible vistas and landscaped gardens), locals tend to slip away to Cook + Phillip Park, a sleek, modern green space – a playground, basketball court, fitness centre, off-leash areas for dog lovers, a café for that all-important coffee, and a lap pool.

Heritage

Wander along Macquarie or George Street and you can’t help but be in awe of some of Sydney’s most iconic heritage buildings. From the grand St Mary’s Cathedral to NSW State Library and the Queen Victoria Building to The Strand Arcade.
