Are Luxe Coworking Spaces the Answer to Work-Life Balance? Hub Australia Makes a Case.

Hub Australia is changing the game and we're about it.

Hub Australia Martin Place

Working from home is the new great debate in workplaces. Those who have the ability to do their job remotely are mourning the loss of flexibility that COVID allowed. As for the big bosses, they're keen to maximise productivity and culture by having employees return to the office full-time.

So, what to do?! It's easy to sing the praises of working from home. Snack access 24/7, no time lost commuting, creature comforts...the list goes on. But what if our office spaces evolved with the times and in place of being stark, fluorescent-lit chambers devoid of any semblance of work-life balance they provided an incentive to return? Spaces where we could relax, refresh and connect amongst the hustle and bustle of a day in the office? Is it possible to 'enjoy' a day in the office more than a day working from home?

We swung by Hub Australia Martin Place to see if they could convince us that office life offered more.

The Space

After nipping in off bustling Martin Place into the heritage-listed building, you’ll already be feeling pretty special. But Hub Australia experience has only just begun. Catch the lift up to the first floor and you’ll emerge straight into Hub’s business lounge and bar area, decked out with a subtle art deco theme, designed by iconic design firm Hassell.

The Details

As soon as you exit the lift, the details begin and this is where you can prepare to be seriously impressed. The team at Hub Australia have deep-dived into what makes the ideal workday and succeeded in delivering on every last detail.

"At Hub, we’ve always believed that a workplace should be a hospitality-driven experience - a seamless blend of professional and personal spaces and services to support work, collaboration and rejuvenation", notes Rebekah. Hear, hear! Sparkling water on tap? Check. Soundproof booths? Check. A curated selection of grooming products in the bathroom? You better believe it. And it doesn’t stop there. Members have access to a swathe of extras including Hub Australia's lifestyle concierge that can be used to book any appointments, drop dry cleaning and organise restaurant bookings. With a passion for working with local businesses, Hub Australia has a handful of brand collaborations that deliver big time for their members. One such partnership provides Hub Martin Place access to exclusive Sydney gym The Lockeroom, should the need to work up a sweat arise.

You’ll also find a designated relax space with an armchair and lockable door, stocked with tea and an essential oil diffuser, perfect for when you need a moment to yourself. Got a meeting and need catering? Hub Australia staff have it covered with a curation of goodies from CBD favourite Fabbrica (purveyors of some of our favourite sandwiches in Sydney!).

Prioritising natural light and greenery, there are plenty of potted plants scattered around the space. A curated selection of art adorns the walls, thanks to Wentworth Galleries, providing everyday inspiration. Members are even offered the choice to secure a carbon neural workday. Forgotten about dinner? Grab a Fabbrica pasta pack from the bar on your way out for a quick, easy and delicious meal. A member kitchen, curated library, podcast studio and meeting room round out the offering.

The Bar

Naturally, though, our favourite part of the whole experience is the tiled aperitivo bar that serves coffee, batched cocktails by Cocktail Porter, aged spirits, beer, wine and non-alcoholic bevvies. Ideal for a relaxed meeting or post workday mingle, the bar is central to Hub Australia's ethos of crafting a workplace that blends wellness with community and culture with balance.

The Options

True to form, Hub Australia has thought of everyone when crafting their workspace options. There are packages available for every requirement from individual to small business and enterprises. Day passes, dedicated desks, office suites and flexi desks are all available.

The goal for Hub Australia is to create spaces that people want to be. One that fosters creativity, culture and collaboration. A single space where people can come to "connect and work as well as socialise and unwind", notes CEO & Founder Brad Krauskopf. "The future of the workplace is defined by a holistic approach - one that blends work and life seamlessly", he continues.

We have a hunch that if everyone's office delivered to this level the great return to the office debate might well be solved.
