Your Ultimate Guide to The Best Bathhouses in Sydney
Sink in and soak up on self-care with a visit to one of these wellness havens.
If 2024 was the year of cold plunge in the wellness world, then 2025 is the year of the bathhouse. With two new openings in Sydney alone and more popping up across Australia, bathhouses seem to be taking over the wellness landscape.
Rooted in communal bathing traditions, today’s bathhouses are a modern take on the self-care ritual, offering next-gen facilities for the ultimate relaxation treatment. From magnesium pools, steam rooms, cold plunges, ice baths and hot springs, these are the best spots in Sydney for a soothing soak.
Coming Soon: Escape Bathhouse
There’s a new bathouse set to steam up Sydney’s North Shore with Escape Bathouse set to open later this year. From the clever team behind Mudgee’s luxury glamping getaway Sierra Escape, comes their first foray into urban wellness. Designed for couples, friends, and individuals looking to reconnect, recharge, and unwind a little closer to home, the idyllic bathhouse will be a mecca of relaxation with spread across two levels. Featuring a hot mineral pool and a wellness bar (of the non-alcoholic kind), while the upstairs will house a steam room, infrared saunas, and ice baths. There will also be treatment rooms for massages, creating a true destination for ultimate relaxation. Set within the heritage-listed Seymour Building, its unique Spanish-style architecture sets the tone for what’s to come, with the team planning to carefully restore and respectfully reimagine this historic gem and breathe new life into the space.

Sense of Self
Hot off a successful few years as one of Melbourne’s most luxe bathhouses, Sense of Self is set to launch its second outpost here in Sydney with an opening date sometime this year. Far from the ordinary, worn-out spas of yore, this wellness sanctuary is set inside a massive, converted warehouse spanning over 1,000 square metres, making it Sydney’s largest indoor bathhouse.
The new SOS location will feature all the core amenities including expansive mineral pools, spacious saunas, a Hammam steam room, as well as refreshing cold plunge pools, making it the ideal inner city escape for both summer and winter. Plus, there’ll even be a number of private treatment rooms and communal relaxation areas to ensure the relaxation doesn’t end when your time in the steam room is up.
