Don’t Miss This Roving Bush-Fed Lunch in Kangaroo Valley

It's a true celebration of the land

Step into the wild this weekend with Bangalay Dining × Wildwood; a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure, taking guests on a journey through the lush landscapes of Kangaroo Valley. Set across 100 acres of subtropical rainforest, sandstone escarpments and rolling bushland, this immersive, roving tasting lunch blends nature and exceptional food into a unique sensory experience.

Guests begin their adventure with a guided bush walk led by the team from Bangalay Dining. As you wander through Wildwood’s pristine grounds, you’ll encounter a fascinating array of native flora, while learning the stories of these plants’ flavours, origins and traditional uses.

The culinary experience is crafted by Executive Chef Simon Furley, whose hatted, Orange-based restaurant, Bangalay Dining, is celebrated for its hyper-local, minimal-waste approach. Furley and his team have designed a moving mini-degustation that highlights the distinctive flavours of Australia’s edible landscape. Each dish draws inspiration from the surroundings, showcasing both native and responsibly foraged ingredients (think smoke-kissed vegetables, wood-fire roasted meats and seafood, and local delicacies like roasted warrigal green crackers topped with native blossoms). Every bite is carefully matched with drinks to best bring out the flavours, including a Davidson Plum & Native Violet Spritz and a Cinnamon-Myrtle Spiced Sangria.

Wildwood has collaborated with Gadhungal Murring and other Indigenous custodians to plant, cultivate and harvest hundreds of native bush foods across the property. This event offers guests a chance to taste the living results of that care, connecting directly to the land in a way that’s rarely possible in the modern dining scene.

The Roving Tasting Lunch runs on the 18th October 2025 with two sessions from 12–2pm and 2–4pm, priced at $130 per person. It’s ideal for adventurous food lovers, bushwalkers with a taste for discovery, and anyone looking for an immersive weekend escape from the city.
