Frosty Fix: Where to Find the Best Frose in Sydney

When the temperature soars, Sydney peaks. It’s when beautiful beach days are followed by balmy nights spent finding ways to stay cool. Enter the cocktail of the season: frose. Basically a rosé slushie, it tastes like summer in a glass. It’s refreshing and fruity flavour is thanks to add-ins like fresh fruit, syrup and sometimes, liquor.

Here’s where to get your frosty fix.

SoCal

For a slice of Cali in Sydney, make your way to SoCal, a rooftop terrace bar in the heart of Neutral Bay that’s inspired by the California surf vibe. After admiring the stunning interiors, refresh with a glass of frose. Here, it’s infused with peach puree, which pairs perfectly with Le Petit rosé, Absolut vodka and lemon. As for food, go for the Baja fish tacos.

1 Young St, Neutral Bay

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay

To wind down from your day, go up – all the way to the rooftop pool deck of the InterContinental Double Bay. After a $20 million refurbishment, the hotel is a hotspot, and its frose is packed to the brim with Chandon rosé, housemade rosé syrup, fresh citrus, and spiked with liquor. That part is up to you: opt for a dash of Belvedere vodka or Gold tequila, then sit back and soak up the scene.

33 Cross Street, Double Bay

Manly Wine

Nothing screams Sydney more than sipping on frose by the seaside, and at Manly Wine, you can do exactly that. With front row seats to Manly Beach, the chic wine bar serves up their own frose mix, made with high-quality rose (naturally), fresh pureed strawberries, and a ‘secret liquor.’ Head down on a Friday or Saturday to mingle with the locals while listening to live music.

8-13 South Steyne, Manly

Rosé Royale

Summer in Sydney just got that much better with the opening of the world’s first rosé wine bar in Potts Point. Take your pick from the watermelon and grapefruit rosé slushy or the passionfruit and pineapple rosé slushy, they’re equally tasty and oh-so refreshing. And plan to go hungry because their menu is teeming with French dishes, think Provençale Tarte Tatin?and Rosé Sorbet.

7 Kellett Street, Potts Point

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel

Perched on the harbourfront, Watsons Bay’s frose is a perfect pink concoction of Tropez rosé, water and strawberry granita. It’s served ice-cold all day long, and is best enjoyed with a bucket of fresh prawns in the ‘Beach Club’ – a nautical courtyard with blue-and-white umbrellas, sparkling sea views and DJs on the decks. Have the kids in tow? While you’re enjoying a Sunday session (link to blog), they can eat free between 5-7pm.

1 Military Road, Watsons Bay

The Port Darling Harbour

When you’re in Darling Harbour and fancy a frose by the waterfront, get your fix at The Port. The wine-based slushie is the star of the summer cocktail list, made up of rosé, strawberry syrup and St Germaine liquor for a taste of elderflower. With lush greenery, and French coastal accents, the venue serves as a summer-long party. For the ultimate experience, gather a group and splash on a cabana.

2-10 Darling Drive, Sydney

North Bondi Fish

Catch up with friends over frose with an iconic summer backdrop at North Bondi Fish. Nab a seat on the sunny deck and ask for the seasonal frose, which right now, is a combination of rosé, raspberry and lemon. It’s a sin to skip the seafood here, so order up a feast of Rock oysters, seared scallops, and bug meat linguine. Time your visit with the sunset for the best view.

120 Ramsgate Avenue, North Bondi
