2023 saw several restaurants open that we now know, love, and frequent, and there's more of that coming our way this year. From lunch catch-ups to celebratory dinners or an intimate date night, these are the best new restaurants in Adelaide that have joined the city's hospitality scene thus far in 2024.

Adelaide's Festival Plaza welcomes a chic new dining destination in the form of Station Road. In a prime location on the ground floor of Festival Tower by Walker, this central city spot is set to elevate Adelaide's already booming restaurant offering, with a French-inspired, modern Australian menu.

Led by Head Chef Baine Stubbs (previously of Melbourne's Vue de Monde) who brings a refined yet unpretentious menu, expect a world-class wine list, lobster cannelloni and wagyu 9+ eye fillet. With venue design by Studio Nine Architects, this exquisite space is complete with a striking marble bar, intimate wine room and alfresco seating. 

From casual pre-show walk-ins to private events, Station Road promises an unparalleled experience and premium service in the heart of Adelaide.

Latteria Bar is the aperitivo cocktail lounge and kitchen shaking up an array of Insta-worthy cocktails that are (almost) too pretty to drink, along with bar bites and hearty mains.

Hang in the lobby for DJ sets and buzzing bar vibes, or book the dining room if you're ready to focus on your feast, with the likes of burrata with rockmelon and cucumber, beef ragu gnocchi, and a 250g Wagyu rump. Save room for dessert - the lamington tiramisu with milo and mascarpone is as ridiculously good as it sounds. 

For drinks, step away from your classic cocktail order and try something new - you'll be impressed. Their rhubarb sbagliato is a reimagined take on the drink born in Milan and is a unique combination of flavours that tastes divine.

There's something so tranquil about enjoying a meal surrounded by lush greenery and foliage, and you can now do just that at The Lodge, which has recently opened its doors in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens for brunch, lunch and afternoon sweet treats.

A laidback sibling to the award-winning Restaurant Botanic, you can expect to find a venue that is proud of its offering, from a seasonally changing menu that reflects the bounty of the surrounding gardens, to hand-crafted plates and a serene ambience.

Open 7 days a week, stop in for coffee or dine a little longer with lunch served from 11.30 am - we recommend trying the lamington with Quandong jam and coconut ice cream.

This new restaurant in Glenelg strikes the perfect balance between casual and upscale, making it ideal for post-beach bites or romantic date nights. Oliveti is brought to you by the team behind Bar Lune, Spread, and Dolly, with a menu that features share plates like hashbrowns with blue swimmer crab and bottarga, Gnocco Fritto with mortadella, and chargrilled octopus with walnut tarator.

Their pasta selection will keep you coming back, and hearty options like an 800g rib-ey and market fish with arrabbiata butter are must-tries, especially paired with Oliveti's well-executed sides.

Sofia

A new sibling to Adelaide's iconic Part Time Lover, Sofia has found its forever home on Hutt Street, and the raving reviews are flooding in, for both the aesthetically-pleasing interiors of light timber, colourful artwork and textural finishes, but for the food and vibes.

Open from 7 am til late on weekdays, and from 11 am on weekends, Sofia has a simplified menu of smaller bites and large share plates for lunch and dinner, starting with Port Lincon oysters and Spanakopita dip with crispy filo, and ending with Greek lamb shoulder with roasted peppers and feta.

The menu is short but sweet for breakfast, with crumpets, muesli, soft-boiled eggs or a continental breakfast plate to fuel the day ahead.

Here to ensure the CBD workers of Adelaide are well-fed, Jumbo Smash is open Monday - Friday, from 7 am to 3 pm for all your coffee, pancake and burger cravings. 

From the crew behind Pastel Wine Bar and Pinco Deli, make your way to Exchange Place to order breakfast pancakes with strawberries and vanilla gelato, or bacon and maple butter sauce, and come lunchtime, these burgers will have you coming back for seconds. 

Smashed patties are the star, with options for beef, fish, chicken or mushroom fillings, complemented by cheese, onion, pickles, tomato and jumbo sauce. Choose wisely - the team are proud of their burgers and don't modify the ingredients!

North Adelaide is known for being home to some of the best Italian restaurants in town, and now Rita's is joining the party! The fun, casual dining experience on Melbourne Street is an excellent choice for a group dinner, with plates made for easy sharing.

Entrees have never looked so good, with the Vanella burrata with scorched Shimejis, leeks and crispy Sichuan chilli oil on focaccia. For mains, the hand-cut Tagliarini with Blue Swimmer crab is a crowd-pleaser.

Whether you order a la carte or opt for the 3 or 5-course tasting menu, just be sure to arrive hungry!

Gluten-free foodies, rejoice! The tacos at La Chiva Taqueria are all GF and oh-so-tasty. This food is best enjoyed with family and friends, with a short and sweet menu designed to be shared.

Order guacamole, corn ribs and a bowl (or two) of patatas bravas for the table, then choose your taco type. You can order 1 or 2, so you can try as many as you like - which is comforting, considering there is pulled pork, roast lamb, chimichurri chicken, Baja barramundi and Peking duck. 

Our personal favourite - and the hero of La Chiva - is the Birria taco, with Birria beef, Oaxaca cheese, white onion and coriander, it's hard to know when to stop with these flavour-packed bites.

Our new go-to for a filling Greek feast, Dino's is seamlessly combining Mediterranean cuisine with convenience in the heart of Adelaide.

The small shop does things quickly, making this ideal for lunch on the run, or a quick bite for dinner. Choose from traditional pita pockets with chicken or lamb, and add some grilled halloumi or feta filo on the side.

Still hungry? The shared meat plates with chips, grilled bread and tzatziki should fill the void, and, making Mondays a little easier, stop in for a Pita + Pint for just $20, all day.

Another Italian eatery for us to love, Osteria Polpo is bringing a taste of Venice to East Terrace. Walk into a venue oozing old-school Italian charm with a modern feel, with dark timber, leather accents and war, lighting.

The menu showcases the best Northern Italian cuisine and a simple wine list, giving the feeling of a much-adored neighbourhood local. 

Dine on Ossobucco ravioli with sage butter sauce, fresh spaghetti with Goolwa pipis and cherry tomatoes, or a 120-day grain-fed T-Bone, and say 'buonissimo!' to this new hotspot.

Gather a group and make a booking at Belles to make your way through a menu heavy on chicken, burgers, sandwiches, nachos and loaded fries, with dipping sauces and spices on hand to curate your flavour.

If you're extra hungry, make your feast bottomless with 90 minutes of endless wings, crinkle-cut fries and slaw. Yum!

PARC hasn't been around long, but it's already doing a fine job of redefining premium dining with top-notch cuisine, stunning design and outstanding service. Their European-inspired menu offers a delicious taste of the Mediterranean and beyond, while the bar shines with wine, whiskey, and gin specialties.

Main dishes feature local meats, seafood, and produce, changing regularly to reflect the seasons. Guests at the Pullman will love popping downstairs to enjoy Happy Hour at PARC from 5-6 pm daily in their stylish, renovated space.

You'll find all the classics you know and love on their menu - our favourite is the Daw Park cheeseburger with smashed beef patty, raclette, mustard, cornichons, tomato relish and shallots - plus delicious fried chicken that's incredibly moreish and gluten-free! Come for a burger, fries and chicken, but make sure you stay for dessert because their basque cheesecake is not something you want to miss.

Keep an eye on their socials for monthly specials, with Taco Tuesdays and July pasta nights in the past rotation, they never disappoint.

This chic but playful restaurant inside the Sofitel Adelaide serves delicious Spanish fare in style. Niña was created by Brenda Loveday, Jessica Purcell and Leonardo Loureiro, and the three have worked together to deliver a lively establishment filled with talented chefs and quality food.

Its specialty is traditional Spanish dishes with modern twists, think chorizo croquettes, jamon soldiers with hot honey ricotta and patata bravas a la Niña, and we can't get enough.

With bottomless sangria sessions getting thrown into the mix on select days, this is one of the best spots for a long lunch with the girls.

This vibey suburban restaurant has quickly climbed to the top as one of our favourite restaurants in Adelaide. Make tracks for, uh, Trak, housed in the old TRAK cinema building in Toorak Gardens. It blends alfresco, bar and restaurant dining with contemporary classic Mediterranean dishes nodding to Italian cuisine in low-key luxe surroundings.

Sister restaurant to Herringbone, it's mixing things up and favouring modern flair over rustic charm. It's all about elevating local produce here too - so, of course, the wine list gets it right. 

The quality of the food is impeccable, with highlights including a chargrilled octopus with whipped cannellini beans, braised bitter greens and a charred tomato vinaigrette, and crumbed pork fillet cotoletta, dished up with cucumber pickles and anchovies. Buon appetito!

Drawing on inspiration from around the world, but mostly the techniques and flavours from French, Spanish, and modern Asian cuisines, ODÉ Bistro is a sensory experience that won't be easy to forget.

This flashy restaurant and rooftop bar is the latest to join Adelaide's skyline food scene, and we're obsessed. SORA on Pirie has a contemporary aesthetic, with contrasting colour schemes for the bar and booths that blend perfectly.

Owners of SORA - which means 'sky' in Japanese - Tarik Nasser-Eddine and Giuseppe Alvaro, set out to create a venue wherein everything is provided: food, drinks and entertainment. This multi-level dining space features not only a restaurant and bar but also a dance floor with booths and VIP spaces. It's an all-inclusive venue that you won't want to leave once you get there.

The unveiling of Bird in Hand's reimagined on-premises dining room, LVN, completely blew us away. This restaurant provides an experience that's inspired by place and culture.

Weekends are made for indulging here, on a seasonal 10-course tasting menu while sipping fine wine and perusing world-class art and the breathtaking terraced gardens surrounding.

The menu at LVN centres around fresh and high-quality seasonal ingredients, with much of the produce showcased plucked directly from the onsite kitchen garden. Or, sourced as it has been for generations by Indigenous communities, from the surrounding Adelaide Hills region, Finniss River on the lower lakes of South Australia and Seymour in Tasmania.
