EASTERN SUBURBS

THINGS TO DO IN THE EASTERN SUBURBS

The stomping ground for Sydney's high rollers, A-list celebrities and fashionistas, the Eastern Suburbs blend urban and coastal living with a whole lot of style and elegance.

Bordered by Sydney Harbour and the Pacific Ocean, the Eastern Suburbs is home to a line-up of high-end designers, and an incredible dining, café and bar culture. Plus, mesmerising beaches and foreshore walks and parks that have people out and about from the break of dawn.

Boasting an addictive vibrancy that spans from funky and offbeat Potts Point to iconic Bondi Beach to surfing hotspot Maroubra – it's no wonder that everyone wants a slice of the Eastern Suburbs. So, take a deep breath, because our list of things to do in the Eastern Suburbs is long.

Beach Life

Bondi to Maroubra, the beaches of the Eastern Suburbs sure know how to turn on the charm. The golden-hued sand and crashing swells of the surfing beaches are mesmerising, while the stunning coastal walks and headlands offer incredible views. Sitting on the world's stage is Bondi Beach, but it's the beaches that sit south of this vibrant spot that are a must-visit. Tamarama, Bronte, Coogee and Maroubra are a standout for their ocean pools and sandy shores. Wander over to Watsons Bay, Vaucluse and Rose Bay, and you will quickly see that life in these suburbs revolves around the harbour beaches.

Gardens and Parklands

Meandering streets with glamorous homes and manicured gardens, in part, is what makes the Eastern Suburbs the beautiful collection of neighbourhoods that it is. Yet, it's the foreshore parks and sweeping playing fields and gardens that add to the allure of the in-demand lifestyle. Every edit of things to do in the Eastern Suburbs is overflowing with green space, from Centennial Park and its extensive grounds to the overarching fig trees of Nielsen Park in Vaucluse to South Head in Watsons Bay. The best way to take it all in is via the coastal walk that runs from Watsons Bay to Coogee, and beyond.

A Foodie's Paradise

Healthy bites to global eats, the Eastern Suburbs is a culinary wonderland with an impressive line-up of cafes and dining hotspots – and you need only look to Potts Point and Bondi to know what we're talking about. The health food trend has taken off in a big way, with many places championing paddock to plate menus and health bars offering quick snacks on the run. Still, you will be able to find cuisine from every corner of the world in hole-in-the-wall style eateries to indulgent restaurants. High-end restaurants, waterfront dining and gastropubs with acclaimed chefs at the helm are a way of life.

Bars and Nightlife

With a seriously impressive collection of character-filled watering holes to intimate wine bars and pulsing nightclubs, bar hopping is one of the best things to do in the Eastern Suburbs. A boozy brunch in Bondi, cocktails in Double Bay, sundowners at a rooftop bar in Potts Point or drinks at one of the many pubs in Paddington and Woollahra. Yet, with all the choices that the Eastern Suburbs has to offer, none other is quite like Icebergs with its incredible views over Bondi Beach.
