In partnership with Vicinity Centres, we’re getting around Greatest of the Mall 2026, the free, sugar-charged winter food celebration turning four Melbourne shopping centres into a Raph Rashid doughnut crawl.

Melbourne’s food-court nostalgia is getting a high-shine reboot this winter, with thousands of free, one-off doughnuts landing across The Glen Shopping Centre, Bayside Shopping Centre, Broadmeadows Central and Box Hill Central.

Greatest of the Mall returns for 2026 as a partnership between Vicinity Centres, Melbourne Food & Wine and Melbourne food personality Raph Rashid, with the four participating centres hosting a series of limited-time food activations across the school holidays. Now in its third year, the annual celebration is all about Melbourne mall culture at its most joyful: after-school snacks, family food-court runs, cult cravings, local makers and the cross-cultural flavours that have always made shopping centres part of the city’s dining story.

This year, the sugar hit arrives in big retro colour. Rashid, the force behind Beatbox Kitchen, Taco Truck and All Day Donuts, has created four exclusive doughnuts inspired by the culture, personality and community of each centre, working with local Melbourne food creators to turn suburban flavour cues into limited-edition treats.

“Each centre has its own personality and honestly, its own flavour. I just had to find it and put it in a doughnut,” says Rashid.

That thinking runs through the whole lineup, from yuzu matcha and milk tea brûlée to pink lamington and baklava cheesecake, each one pulling a different thread from Melbourne’s suburban snack memory.

With Rashid turning his attention to “that most iconic of mall snacks”, Melbourne Food & Wine creative director Pat Nourse says Greatest of the Mall is pushing food-court nostalgia and sugar-rush joy into full retro overdrive. Or as puts it: “Thousands. Of. Free. Doughnuts.”

Everything You Need to Know

  • The Glen Shopping Centre: Milk Tea Brûlée with Miss Trixie Drinks Tea, channelling bubble tea culture into a custard-filled, brûlée-topped creation. Available 27 to 28 June.
  • Bayside Shopping Centre: Pink Lamington with Dani Venn, loaded with raspberry, cream and bakery-counter nostalgia. Available 3 to 4 July.
  • Broadmeadows Central: Baklava Cheesecake with Dub Eats Everything, layering pistachio, cheesecake and phyllo into a sticky-sweet centrepiece. Available 9 to 10 July.
  • Box Hill Central: Yuzu Glaze with Matcha Cream, created with Melbourne Foodie for a bright hit of yuzu, matcha and cream. Available 11 to 12 July.

Each activation will run from 11am to 2pm, with Rashid on-site for selected dates and 600 free doughnuts available per day, while stocks last. All that’s left to do is pick a centre, pick a flavour and not assume there’ll be leftovers.

Beyond the doughnuts, visitors can try their luck at the Snacc Spin Wheel, with centre gift cards and snack prizes up for grabs. The Eat & Win competition runs from 17 June to 12 July 2026, giving shoppers at each participating centre the chance to win one of five $500 centre gift cards.

Melbourne’s food culture has never been confined to laneways and booked-out dining rooms. It’s in the food court after school, the bubble tea before the movie, the bakery craving between errands and, this winter, a free doughnut line glowing with full 80s mall energy.

Find your nearest Greatest of the Mall activation, pick your flavour and move fast. Once the day’s 600 free doughnuts are gone, they’re gone.
