Home Tour: Georgian Revival
Classic Georgian architecture meets contemporary elegance at this country estate.
If you’ve ever fantasised about life on a grand country homestead, chances are your vision looks very much like Kingsview Estate. This stately private residence, currently owned by radio King Kyle Sandilands and his wife Tegan, can be found tucked away behind a gated entrance and parliamentary-style circular driveway in the idyllic rural outskirts of Sydney. Located in Glenorie, it’s close enough for a commute to the city yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle for total tranquillity. Kingsview Estate is the embodiment of the best of both worlds, which is exactly why Sandiland purchased it in the first place. “For us, it’s no secret it was to be a weekender for all generations of the family to enjoy”, he shares.
Set on 2.34 private acres, expansive parklike grounds and views stretching to the Blue Mountains are just the beginning. You’d be forgiven for sliding into a Pride & Prejudice reverie upon first glance — this impeccable family home has been inspired by classic Georgian architecture after all.
Inside, you’ll find a space designed for comfort and entertaining, along with a bounty of nooks to soak up the serenity of the space. Think multiple dining zones peering out across the verdant gardens and a private study, custom library cabinetry and concealed storage.
The Georgian architectural ethos of balance and symmetry continues throughout the light and bright home with clean lines, sash windows and soaring ceilings. With each of the six bedrooms flooded with natural light, this is a home designed not just to live in, but to luxuriate in. When renovating the space, the Sandliands’ were keen to keep the integrity of the original floor plan as much as possible. In place of structural changes, the updates were predominantly kept to modernising the residence for an effortless lifestyle and extending storage spaces,” and adding walk-in robes, pantry spaces and under-stair storage.” It’s easy to picture a life here, full of late alfresco dinner parties, summers by the pool and quiet Sundays spent reading atop the manicured lawn. There is, as they say, plenty of room for activities. In fact, the couple’s favourite room is known as “The Great Room” which has now been transformed into a tranquil living space. “Rumour has it that this room was host to many parties in days gone by. Lucky the walls can’t talk!” shares Kyle.
Adding to the charm of Kingsview Estate is the easy access to a welcoming community and an intimate village centre.
With a property as idyllic as this, you’ll have little reason to leave — and one lucky buyer won’t have to.
