2025 Fashion Trends: Here's Exactly What We'll Be Wearing Next Year

From the return of skinny jeans to the sneaker that's going to be everywhere, a style commentator reveals 2025's incoming fashion trends.

Ksubi

As we bid farewell to 2024—and the trends that defined it, from Brat green to ballet flats and the oh-so-controversial barrel-leg jeans—we're looking ahead to what 2025 has in store for our wardrobes.

We caught up with fashion commentator, writer, and podcaster Tamara Holland to uncover the trends set to dominate next year. Spoiler alert: 2025 is shaping up to be a lot of fun.

"Fashion is tidying itself up!" Tamara shares. "While Brat green had us embracing a 'messy' aesthetic this year, 2025 will bring a more refined and polished vibe."

With Miu Miu still reigning as fashion's top brand, according to the Lyst Index, Tamara notes that designer Miuccia Prada's signature prim and proper style will take centre stage, replacing the slouchy, undone looks of 2024.

"And then there's the 'Lisbon look,'" she adds. "Think relaxed cotton pieces, bold spicy shades like chilli red and lime green, and stripes on everything—shirts, pants, and wrap skirts. This is the perfect vibe to tap into for our Aussie summer!"

Here, we reveal the must-know fashion predictions for 2025.

Nobody Denim, Siren Skinny Ankle Union

Skinny Jeans

Great news for millennials! It's time to dust off our skinny jeans from the back of the wardrobe. According to Tamara, skinny jeans are back from the dead, proving that fashion is a fickle and cyclical old beast.

"Thanks to the millennial-core trend, people are looking to style icons from the early noughties like Alexa Chung and Kate Moss, and skinny jeans were a hallmark of their look," she explains.

She recommends styling your tight-fitting denim with layers or billowy shirts.

Sitchu Pick: Nobody Denim, Siren Skinny Ankle in Union, $229

St Agni, Sling Back Thong Heel

Thong Heels (& Thongs in Many Other Iterations)

Yes, you read that right. In 2025, thong heels will be adorning our feet. Popular in the '90s, the return of the polarising trend was endorsed by designer Phoebe Philo, who posted a black thong heel to her grid earlier in the year and almost broke the internet. The most popular thong heel style features a kitten heel, buttery-soft leather and a sleek silhouette.

In fact, thongs are making their way back onto our trotters in various iterations, from square-toe flat thongs to thong wedges to minimalistic, chic styles in leather, jellies, and metallics. Love it or loathe it, the humble thong will be everywhere in 2025.

Sitchu Pick: St Agni, Sling Back Tong Heel in Black, $449

Spell, Leather Poet Bag

Big Boho Energy

Attention all boho girlies, in 2025, the bohemian aesthetic will return with an elevated refresh. Think soft, romantic silhouettes, earthy tones, and artisanal accessories that nod to the past while feeling distinctly fresh.

"The boho 2.0 movement is also coming on strong, with French fashion house Chloe responsible for returning to ultra-feminine silhouettes, floaty fabrics and bohemian accessories like clog heels, brown leather bags and strappy sandals," the fashion expert reveals.

Sitchu Pick: Spell, Poet Leather Bag in Ivory, $459

Puma Speedcat

Puma Speedcat Sneakers

As for sneakers, the retro Puma Speedcat has officially entered the 2025 chat. "They'll be the new must-have sneaker after it was seen on Emily Ratajkowski, Dua Lipa and Troye Sivan this year," Tamara predicts.

A nod to motorsport heritage, these sleek sneakers have a low-profile silhouette, soft suede upper, and signature T-toe design for a timeless touch. With a grippy rubber outsole and snug fit, they're perfect for everyday wear or adding a sporty edge to your look.

Sitchu Pick: Puma, Speedcat OG Unisex Sneakers in Red, $180

AERE, Linen Mini Shift Dress in Oat

40s-Inspired Silhouettes

According to Tamara, we'll see an influx of 40s-inspired silhouettes next year. Think cute twin sets, shift dresses, and playful ladylike accessories like top-handle bags and pointy shoes.

"Of course, you don't have to do a full head-to-toe vintage look; a nod to the trend is enough. You might pair a pointy patent leather flat with your jeans, for instance," she says of how to tackle this one.

Sitchu Picks: AERE, Linen Mini Shift Dress in Oat, $130

Faithfull the Brand, Bow Tunic Top in Wine

Cherry-Red Everything

If 2024 was all about Brat green, 2025 is set to be defined by cherry red. This bold, sultry shade has been dominating runways, surging in popularity online (Pinterest Predicts 2025 report reveals a 325% increase in “cherry vibe” searches over the past year!), and making waves in street style worldwide.

Cherry red pairs beautifully with neutrals or make a statement in a colour-blocked outfit. Prefer a subtle touch? Add a pop of red with a sleek handbag, bold earrings, or a swipe of lipstick.

Sitchu Pick: Faithfull the Brand, Boe Tunic Top in Wine, $190

Ksubi, Playback Token Krystal

Embellished Jeans

These jeans were all over the fall-winter 2024 and spring-summer 2025 runways, with brands like Gucci, Chanel, and Coperni showcasing designs featuring crystal fringes, sequins, and intricate patchwork.

Surprisingly versatile, they can transform a simple white T-shirt into a standout look or create a maximalist statement when paired with an equally bold top.

Sitchu Picks: Ksubi, Playback Token Krystal, $239.95
