Soho House Just Locked In Its Sydney Debut
After years of rumours and false starts, Soho House has finally locked in a launch date for its first permanent Australian outpost.
After years of rumours, setbacks and plenty of speculation, Soho House has finally put a date on its Sydney debut. The five-level Darlinghurst club will bring the brand’s signature mix of dining, wellness, work and nightlife spaces to Crown Street, with construction now moving into its next phase, with opening slated for 2028.
The new House will take over 256 Crown Street in Darlinghurst, which feels like the perfect location for the illustrious club. Just moments from Oxford Street and right on the edge of Surry Hills, it’s an address that feels truly fitting for a brand synonymous with creatives, hospitality and culture. Oh, and if the location sounds familiar, it’s because the site was formerly home to Shady Pines Saloon, which closed its doors in 2025 to make way for the redevelopment.
Once complete, the five-level club will feature everything Soho House is known for, from multiple bars and dining spaces, to a rooftop pool, luxe gym and day spa, dedicated work areas and even a cabaret venue. Designed as a place where members can work, socialise and unwind from morning through to late night, it’ll also house a restaurant, rooftop terrace and wellness facilities under one roof. That’s quite the shopping list of amenities!
The building itself is getting a facelift too, with sketches showing the current, rundown facade replaced with a sleek cream and brown design to match other Houses around the world.
While construction is edging closer, there’s still a little wait ahead. Developer Trenerry Property lists the project as entering its next phase, with construction expected to begin in late 2026 before doors open in 2028.
