Whisk Yourself Away to the Best Matcha in Brisbane
Have a craving that just won’t quit? Visit these cafes serving the best matcha in Brisbane for a satisfying sip.
The Matcha movement is showing no signs of slowing, with some suppliers unable to keep up with demand, and cafes selling out (or restricting how many servings they supply per day).
Made from the steamed, dried and ground leaves of green tea plants that spend their growing period in the shade to increase chlorophyll and theanine content, matcha has a somewhat bitter, grassy and vegetal taste that plenty of Brisbane locals can’t get enough of.
Whether you’re drinking it traditionally as a hand-whisked tea or sampling one of the flavour-packed creations that cafes and market stalls around the city have created, we’ve got the next best place for you to visit on your quest to discover the best matcha in Brisbane.
Nodo
It will come as no surprise that one of our favourite cafes and donut specialists in Brisbane is also churning out top-tier matcha. Nodo has a whole bunch of matcha drinks on the menu, both hot and cold, which they create using ceremonial-grade matcha.
But the really exciting part? The monthly specials. In the past, they’ve ranged from banana bread to apple pie. Keep across their socials for updates on what’s new.
Multiple locations
Peach Cafe
Peach Cafe is a favourite for plenty of reasons — the gooey-centred cookies, creative brekkie plates and the convenient proximity to a playground… But its the way they constantly innovate their menu, particularly their matcha, is a constant pull.
At this adorable pink cafe, you can always get your hands on an OG matcha or strawberry milk take, but keep across their socials and you’ll uncover other delights, ranging from banana bread to mango.
Sitchu Tip: This beautiful space is also keen on building community, as evidenced by their hugely successful run club. If you’re down for a Sunday morning run fuelled by the promise of plenty of little treats, consider popping by!

Kin Cafe
Kin is a staple on the matcha scene. Blending their homemade strawberry purée and ceremonial grade matcha with your choice of milk, the team creates a perfect blend of sweet fruity flavours with the mellow vegetal notes of the tea.
Kin also keep it creative with fun drink specials, alongside plenty of innovative foam toppers. To make it dairy-free, just choose your milk and opt out of the cream on top!

Supernice
Brisbane has just as big a thing for sandwiches as it does for matcha. Luckily, Supernice does both. Using genuine Marukyu Koyamaen matcha straight from Japan, you can expect a smooth flavour each order. They also make all of their syrups in-house, so you won’t get any of that overly sweet artificial taste. But the best bit? Supernice have introduced the 1L bucket, perfect for those of us with an empty cup within seconds.
Sitchu Tip: A house-baked focaccia sandwich is a must whilst you’re there.

Wuta Brewer
Wuta Brewer is the sister cafe of the South Brisbane Wuta Cafe, and this little inner-city hotspot has quickly become known for its specialty matcha. Pouring only top-grade matcha, Wuta blend the mellow and umami flavours of their ceremonial-grade tea into incredible new flavours that are worth going out of your way for.
Our picks? The iced coconut matcha (made on coconut water) or the matcha strawberry float, which is topped with matcha soft serve.
If you’re also a fan of hojicha, you’re in luck. Wuta brews a mix of floats and flavours with this delicious tea, too! Our personal favourite is the Biscoff hojicha — it’s the perfect mix of sweet, caramelised and roasted.
