Welcome to the Adelaide Fringe 2026, the festival that turns the entire city into a playground of art, chaos, and pure magic. Whether you’re an Adelaide Fringe veteran armed with comfy shoes and a plan, or a curious first-timer with zero clue but plenty of appetite for adventure, this guide has your back. Think of it as your survival kit, backstage pass, and itinerary rolled into one.

What, When & Where: Adelaide Fringe at a Glance

Four weeks, five weekends, 1500+ artists and 500+ venues across SA. The festival kicks off on February 20th and runs through to March 22nd, giving you just enough time to tick off the headline shows while leaving room to wander, stumble, and discover the unexpected gems that make the Fringe truly unforgettable.

Tickets & How to Get In

Tickets are your golden key into the chaos. Grab them online, call 1300 621 255, or swing by the Fringe Corner Box Office from February 19th. The festival caters to all: early-bird deals, rush tickets, free events, and sweet discounts for BankSA cardholders, teachers, and students.

The East End pulses at the heart of the action. The Garden of Unearthly Delights is free to wander with a show ticket — otherwise a small fee applies during peak times. Gluttony is always free to enter.

Sitchu tip: big-name shows sell out fast, so book early — but leave space to get lost in the unexpected. If you’re looking for a place to start, these are our curated top picks.

Getting Around: Public Transport & Parking

The Adelaide Fringe sprawls across Adelaide, and how you move can make or break your day. Sticking to the CBD? Leave the car at home — parking is limited, expensive, and stressful. Walk, wander, or hop on a tram or bus.

The free 99C City Loop drops you off near East Terrace and North Terrace, while the Adelaide Railway Station is a 20-minute stroll. Cyclists can lock up at the dedicated bike park at The Garden of Unearthly Delights. For those still wed to four wheels, paid off-street parking is available on Rundle Street and North Terrace.

Food, Drinks & Hangouts

The Fringe isn’t just a show crawl — it’s a month-long tasting tour. Grazing is part of the ritual, and dinner plans rarely stay fixed. Inside The Garden of Unearthly Delights, expect a full-scale night market: Papitos Paella, Gyoza Records, Tacos La Santa Maria, King Creole fried chicken, bao buns, fairy floss, waffles, granita, and late-night gelato. Bars range from relaxed wine lounges to cocktail tents and piano bars, letting you settle in for hours without leaving the gates.

Next door, Gluttony leans more curated and restaurant-like: Andre’s Cucina & Polenta Bar, Botanic Lodge dining, Bao+, 48 Flavours gelato, Cheese Street toasties, and Champagne Island for bubbles between acts.

Across the East End and wider CBD, restaurants are running Adelaide Fringe menus, late openings and pre-show cocktails, with a new pop-up bar taking over the former Distill site on Rundle Street.

Enter Mimmo, a lively late-night spot celebrating the return of live music. Open Thursday to Sunday during Fringe season, the program includes trivia and live bands on Thursdays, two-level DJ parties on Fridays and Saturdays, and a showcase of global live music and vinyl DJs on Sundays.

Sunny’s Pizza is also cooking outdoors nightly, keeping the crowds fuelled while the dancefloor stays busy. The season will wrap with a major headline show on March 22nd, with a big-name artist still to be revealed.
