This New Waterless Beauty Launch Is Changing the Way We Use Vitamin C

A new Vitamin C launch is challenging one of beauty’s biggest norms — and the results have people paying attention.

IMBIBE

Gone are the days of blindly layering six different serums because TikTok said so. Beauty lovers are becoming way more ingredient-savvy, asking smarter questions about what’s actually in their products, whether they work and if they really need all the filler in the first place.

Which is probably why waterless beauty is having such a moment right now.

One of the latest brands leaning into the shift is IMBIBE, with the launch of its new Perfecting Powder — a fresh take on Vitamin C that feels a little more thoughtful than your average serum sitting in the bathroom cabinet slowly oxidising.

And if you’ve ever spent good money on a Vitamin C only for it to turn that questionable shade of orange a few weeks later, you’ll understand the appeal.

IMBIBE

Instead of arriving pre-mixed in liquid form, IMBIBE’s formula comes as a powder designed to be activated fresh each time you use it. You simply mix it into your serum, moisturiser or essence before applying, which helps keep the Vitamin C stable and effective for longer.

The formula combines pure L-ascorbic acid with Carnosine Peptide to help brighten, support collagen and protect skin from all the usual daily aggressors — pollution, UV exposure and the frankly offensive amount of blue light we’re all exposed to these days.

But honestly, what makes this launch interesting isn’t just the science-y side of it. It’s the ritual.

The powder is mixed in IMBIBE’s custom mixing plate before application, turning something usually rushed and forgettable into a skincare step that actually feels kind of nice to do. A little slower. A little more intentional. Very much romanticising the self-care moment.

According to IMBIBE founder Felicity McMillan, the idea came from wanting to solve one of Vitamin C’s biggest issues: instability.

And the early results seem promising. In a four-week consumer study, 97 per cent of users noticed a more even skin tone, while 87 per cent said their skin looked brighter and more radiant after using it daily.

More than anything though, this launch feels reflective of where beauty is heading overall. People don’t just want products that look pretty on a shelf anymore — they want formulas that make sense, ingredients that earn their place and routines that feel good to use.

Waterless beauty might sound like another buzzy skincare term, but this one actually feels like it could stick.
