Sydney’s Never Seen a Roast Like This Before

Foodie culture has officially gone too far β€” and now it's getting roasted for it.

This June, a first-of-its-kind culinary comedy event is coming to Sydney, serving up a hearty roast dinner alongside a healthy helping of stand-up roasts.

Landing at Potts Point Hotel for one night only, EveryPlate’s Dinner Roast is part comedy show, part roast dinner and entirely dedicated to poking fun at the increasingly absurd world of foodie culture.

Hosted by comedian Nikki Osborne, the event will see a lineup of Australian comedy favourites β€” including Troy Kinne and Gen Fricker β€” lovingly tear into the world of unnecessary tableside theatrics, overpriced garnishes and the so-called β€œsimple” 30-second recipe videos that somehow require 47 ingredients and your own farm to actually make.

The concept is pretty simple: good food, good company and a few lighthearted laughs at the expense of modern dining culture. Guests can settle in for a full three-course roast feast (there’s a meat-free menu on offer too) while some of Australia’s funniest comedians remind us that dinner doesn’t need to feel like an episode of MasterChef. Better yet, tickets are only $22.49…that’s less than most sandwiches cost these days.

β€œIf you’ve ever absolutely butchered a recipe that has way too many steps or set off the smoke alarm trying to flambΓ© a fish, then this night is for you,” says Nikki.

β€œAnd even if you’ve never cooked a day in your life and just want a good laugh, a great feed, and a fun night out, you’re more than welcome at the table.”

Foodies won’t need to take cover, either. Whether you’ve happily queued hours for a viral pastry (guilty) or someone who still can’t understand why butter boards became a thing, you’re bound to find something relatable on EveryPlate’s Dinner Roast’s menu.

Oh, and hot tip: if you happen to be an EveryPlate customer, you can tag along for free! Just head here for details on how to get your tickets.
