PARRAMATTA

GET TO KNOW
THE AREA

The beating pulse of Sydney’s Greater Western Suburbs, Parramatta is a cultural hub that has a whole lot going on; a bustling shopping precinct, popular foodie hangouts, late-night bars, and thriving art spaces. Yet, it’s the outdoor spaces that give this city-like neighbourhood a delightful suburban feel.

Lifestyle

This thriving commercial and cultural centre is historically significant and strategically positioned at the tail end of the Parramatta River in Sydney’s western regions. Once a suburban outpost, Parramatta has long been playing an essential role in Sydney’s expansion. And there are no signs of things slowing down.

Considered Sydney’s second CBD, Parramatta has its fair share of towering office blocks, but they do little to detract from the local lifestyle that has something for everyone.

There is a whole lot to brag about in Parramatta’s foodie scene. Boasting an impressive selection of global eats and on-trend cafes, where Persian, Lebanese, Japanese, Mediterranean and South-East Asian cuisine sits alongside burger joints and dessert bars. Plus, there is waterfront dining, gastropubs and lounge bars.

Parramatta’s sporting culture has been immortalised at the newly built Western Sydney Stadium – home to Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club and Parramatta Eels Rugby League Club. Just up the street, Parramatta Park and Lake Parramatta are natural oases with plentiful green space and cycle paths. Then there is the riverside foreshore which has people out pounding the pavement from the break of dawn.

Westfield Parramatta is a sprawling shopping centre with every convenience, including big name brands and boutique storefronts. Yet still, it’s the museums and performing arts centres that really shine – Old Government House, Riverside Theatre, Elizabeth Farm, and Phillip Ruddock Heritage Centre, to name a few.

If all this wasn’t enough, Parramatta is also a standout for its well-connected transport setup. Buses run regularly in all directions. Trains link commuters to Sydney CBD and the Blue Mountains, and a Light Rail is currently under construction, while a Metro line is in the planning stage. But nothing quite beats the RiverCat ferry, which connects Parramatta to Sydney’s Circular Quay via Parramatta River.

There is no denying that Parramatta really does have it all.

Neighbours

Diverse and community-minded, Parramatta ticks many boxes when it comes to urban living. A favourite with young professionals, Parramatta also has a whole lot of family appeal; a public transport service that’s well-connected, a selection of prestigious private and public schools to choose from, and a lifestyle that has something for everyone (literally). From towering apartments to heritage-listed homes, there is plenty of room to go around.
