Narrabeen Suburb Profile
Living in Narrabeen offers locals an active, outdoor lifestyle. Narrabeen Beach is the suburb’s pride and joy, world-famous for its surfing conditions. The three-kilometre stretch of sand is also home to an ocean pool, several surf lifesaving clubs, parks, playgrounds, and barbecue facilities, making it a hive of activity on weekends. At the end of the beach is Narrabeen Lagoon, a peaceful retreat loved by those living in Narrabeen for fishing, windsurfing, kayaking, and bushwalking. The boardwalk circling the lagoon is perfect for biking and jogging, as are the trails scattered around the suburb.
Pittwater Road serves as the main shopping and dining hub, lined with restaurants, cafés, grocery and produce stores, and boutiques. It also doubles as a transport link, with buses taking commuters to North Sydney, the CBD, and beyond. Narrabeen’s close proximity to the city means professionals can reach it within 45 minutes, yet it’s distant enough to make coming home feel like a holiday. The suburb’s strong community spirit shines through in the way neighbors connect and through events like the Berry Reserve Market and Narrabeen Lakes Festival.
Area Features
Narrabeen Lagoon
One of the suburb’s most beautiful natural assets (and there are many!) is Narrabeen Lagoon – the perfect spot for water sports, bushwalking, fishing and wildlife watching. The lagoon is surrounded by a flat, 8.4-kilometre boardwalk, which starts and ends at Middle Creek and is ideal for cycling and jogging.
Markets
Every third Sunday of the month, Narrabeen hosts the Berry Reserve Market, a vibrant community market with arts and crafts, jewellery, clothing, homewares and food stalls. On Fridays, there’s also a farmers market in nearby Warriewood, The Beaches Market, where locals stock up on fresh produce, meat, poultry, baked goods and artisan eats.
Scenic Walks
Locals are spoiled for choice when it comes to scenic walks in Narrabeen. The Berry Reserve and Bicentennial Coastal Walks are leisurely and picturesque, while the Jamieson Park Walk is a haven for bushwalkers. Residents can be spotted on the trails every day of the week, yet they never feel overcrowded.
Stroll the streets of Narrabeen, and you’ll meet – and probably stop to chat to – retirees, families and professionals who love coming home to the relaxed feel and fresh air of the seaside suburb. For many years, Narrabeen was home to empty nesters, but in recent years, more younger couples and parents have seen the value in living in a place where life isn’t so fast-paced. This shift has breathed new life and energy into the suburb.
