After somewhere to take in Sydney’s skyline? The rooftop terrace at the newly refurbed East Village Hotel is the perfect place to settle in for a chic-pub-do. The semi-private dining room on the rooftop is available to be reserved for groups of up to 20 people while the Athletic Club on the level below is an old-worldy haven to retire to once the sun is set and you’re ready to sink into a leather-clad chesterfield.

Decked out in dusky pinks, distressed sand stone, abundant greenery and timber, juxtaposed against silky and velvety upholstery, this sprawling Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant is as decadent as they come. 

The menu is inspired by the rich and flavourful Levantine cuisine of the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean. The shared menu is split into flora, fauna and ocean with many dishes cooked over wood and charcoal on a custom-built three metre-long Mangal (Turkish grill) and two rotisseries. Kitted out with a restaurant, two large bars, a wood-fired kitchen, indoor-outdoor dining, a large outdoor terrace, and multiple private and semi-private dining spaces, this has epic birthday bash written all over it.

The KittyHawk

This Phillip Lane number has been winning the locals' hearts since it’s opening in mid-2016. Cocktails come first at Kittyhawk, with rye and rum giving flavour to the venue’s charming Paris-post-WWII fit-out. Reservations are available for those wanting to secure a table. If a bigger bash is more your type of thing, book out the elegant Conservatory catering for up to 70 people, while the upstairs function space has you sorted for up to 175 people with private waitstaff and canapé options available. They are reopening in March, so you better get in quick to get a booking!

With a space for every party size, Bondi’s legendary Hotel Ravesis packs a celebratory punch. Blending European vibes and mid-century Miami styling, this -pretty-in-pink bar-slash-restaurant delivers an Australian take on Mediterranean classics, pairing dishes with an impressive wine and cocktail list. Dishes are designed to share, so be sure to arrive hungry – and thirsty, the cocktails are devilishly divine. The space offers five different options for party bookings: the dining room; Wynyard or Carrington Terrace; private dining space (seats 28); or if you're booking out for a work bash, the venue is open to exclusive hire. That way, you can take your pick from any of the rooms you'd like! Set up camp for the evening, and believe us you'll find it hard to leave.

Nestled on the shores of Pittwater the sprawling venue is perfect for a sizeable, lavish affair, as well as offering secluded spots for more intimate celebrations. With the Seafood Market, The Shack, The Kiosk and Vinnie’s Pizza all serving delectable eats, there is something for everyone. 

Can’t find a babysitter? Fear not, The Newport provides an indoor kids area with badminton, pingpong tables and a giant magnetic scrabble board, the kids will be completely occupied and surrounded with uber-chic, retro styling that is just begging for adorable Instagram shots.

Another winning Hemmes creation, Coogee Pavillion also boasts a mean children’s play area – making the family celebration a total breeze. Simple, sharing plates dominate the scene, with pizzas, seafood, salads and bar snacks available so you won’t go hungry. If kids aren’t a determining factor for you, head up to the adults-only Rooftop and take in sweeping views across the Coogee shoreline while indulging in a tipple or two. Hotel Palisade of Sydney’s rapidly gentrified Millers Point, is the perfect place to pop a bottle or two of bubbles in celebration. With three spaces available to book for functions of 10-50 people with catering and table service available, the hotel makes entertaining easy.
