We’ve partnered with Sofitel Sydney Wentworth for a look inside one of Sydney’s most luxurious and relaxing hotels.

As far as beloved Sydney hotels go, the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is one of the most iconic. With the Sofitel ringing in its 60th year of operating luxury hotels around the world, the Sydney location has just unveiled its stunning new $70 million refurbishment, and we can't plan out staycay soon enough.

The impressive revamp honours the property's 1960s heritage while embracing contemporary luxury.

Modern Heritage Redesign

Originally built by Qantas in the 1960s, the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth was Australia’s first five-star international hotel. Over the years, it has attracted royalty and global icons.

The revamp, spearheaded by architecture firm FK, revives this jet-set glamour through curved interiors, elegant joinery, and rich material details, capturing the post-war minimalist ethos.

Key spaces have been thoughtfully redesigned, including 436 guest rooms and suites, the Sofitel Club Millésime, and all public areas. Guests can now enjoy cutting-edge hospitality with interactive check-in stations, an advanced online concierge app, and a showstopping lobby that sets the hotel's tone with its sleek and modern aesthetic.

Relaxing Rooms & Wellness in Focus

Guest rooms have been updated with moody lighting and luxurious baths complemented by bespoke Balmain amenities. The famous Sofitel MyBed ensures a restful stay, while a pillow menu and convenient in-room Nespresso machines really step up the comfort factor.

The hotel has also introduced an in-room Wellness Bag, a portable gym bag with all the essentials (think roller, yoga mat, resistance bands, handles, and ankle straps). This handy bag allows guests to maintain fitness routines in their rooms or at nearby Sydney landmarks like the Botanic Gardens or Opera House, located on the hotel's doorstep.

World Class Conference & Event Spaces

The hotel’s 15 conference and event venues, including the iconic Wentworth Ballroom, now feature world-class technology and one of Australia’s largest LED screens.

These updates add a modern twist to the venue's classic mirrored ceilings and grand architecture, making Sofitel the perfect location for big events. The culinary experience, overseen by Michelin-trained executive chef Bektaş Özcan, elevates every event with the menu championing local and sustainable ingredients.

An Exciting New Culinary Precinct

A partnership with House Made Hospitality introduces the hotel to an exciting new culinary precinct featuring four new venues.

tilda offers casual yet refined Australian dining, while Delta Rue infuses Vietnamese-French flavours in a buzzing setting. Guests can sip cocktails at bar tilda or unwind at the outdoor Wentworth Bar, a terrace oasis.

The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s transformation is not just a facelift but a cultural revival that celebrates history, hospitality, and high-end luxury in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
