Dumpling Method:

You can be creative and fold your dumplings in any style you wish. At Momo Bar, they make their vegetable dumplings in the braided style. To make a braided dumpling, place a teaspoon amount of the filling in the centre of the dumpling wrapper. Then, fold one of the ends of the dumpling wrapper inwards, repeatedly pinching it towards the centre, overlapping in a straight line until the dumpling is fully sealed. Now cook your dumplings. At Momo Bar dumplings are steamed all of our dumplings but if you don’t own a steamer, you can always pan fry the dumplings.Steaming Method: Line the steamers, using baking paper in a bamboo steamer and oil in a metal steamer. Place metal or bamboo steamer over a pot of boiling water. Place the dumplings inside and cover with a lid. Steam for 10-15 minutes. To test if dumplings are ready, you can stick a skewer inside. If it comes out clean, they are ready! If they don’t come out clean, they need more time.Pan Fried Method: Place some oil in the bottom of a pan. When the oil is hot, place your dumplings in the pan and fry them off on the bottom. Once the bottom has a light, golden colour pour enough water into the pan to cover ⅓ of the dumplings. Then place a lid on top and cook until the water has evaporated. Once the water is evaporated, uncover the dumplings and fry for another 30 seconds to crisp them up.Now your dumplings are ready to serve! At Momo Bar, we serve our dumplings in chicken or vegetable broth, with soy sauce, or with Nepalese Achaar sauce!

Makes roughly 50 dumplings, leftover dumplings can be frozen and cooked later.
