Markets are a great way to celebrate the artisans, producers, growers and makers of a community – and they're one of the most enjoyable ways to get to know a city too! Take a local approach and soak up Launceston's market scene, which offers up a vibrant approach to supporting the UNESCO City of Gastronomy’s diverse and awarded local produce across a variety of food-centric markets. You'll also be able to give the state’s northern crafters and makers a good look in as well.

These are the best markets in Launceston to sample tasty eats, source fresh produce for your next dinner party with friends and find a one-off treasure to gift or enjoy all to yourself.

Harvest

Launnie locals’ favourite Saturday morning ritual is a perfect way to delight in all that the city has to offer from its surrounding producers. Harvest Market is far and away one of the best markets in Launceston. Pick up breakfast from one of the food vans, a coffee from Ritual Coffee and then wind your way through the many providores bearing some of the best of the fresh. From nuts and cheeses, meats and vegetables, gin and cider, fungi and flowers, Harvest Market is a weekend sensory feast.

Evandale Market

Venture just 20 minutes out of town for a bonafide country market at Evandale Market. As with many good rural markets, this one is a pro with its feel-good offerings of second-hand goods, general bric-a-brac, great local produce and granny crafts. Food vans and baked goods stalls heaving with donuts and pastries will shift things into snackier gear, and be sure to snap up some preserves – as we all know the very best of them come from a country town market like Evandale!
