The Locals

Located just six kilometres from Perth’s CBD, Dalkeith is exceptionally well positioned for some of the city’s most established private schools. Christ Church Grammar School, Methodist Ladies’ College, Scotch College, Shenton College and St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls are all within easy reach, making the suburb a natural choice for families prioritising education.

Transport links are straightforward, with bus routes running through the neighbourhood and providing access to the University of Western Australia, while Claremont Train Station sits a short drive away, opposite the high-end shopping, dining and services hub of Claremont Quarter.

An active, outdoors-focused lifestyle is another drawcard of living in Dalkeith. Local sporting clubs cater to everything from tennis and football to bowls and croquet, while the river plays host to sailing and waterside recreation. Scenic walking trails wind along the foreshore, offering uninterrupted Swan River views and quiet spots to pause, unwind and take in the surrounds — one of the suburb’s most enduring pleasures.

Area Features

Point Resolution Reserve

Spanning across 8.45 hectares of prime riverfront real estate, Point Resolution Reserve is not only a lovely spot for a picnic but also has historical significance. This was one of the state’s earliest reserves quarried by convict labour, with the extracted limestone still featuring in some of the surrounding homes. Nowadays, it buzzes with birdlife and wildflowers and a peaceful beach overlooking Point Walter.

Masons Gardens

This pretty park features a playground and an art trail with sculptures with a tool and instrumental theme, including a giant recorder, which blissfully remains silent. The fenced pond with resident turtles is a massive hit with kids, and since this neighbourhood park is located in the heart of Dalkeith, it’s easily accessible by all.

Beaton Park

Situated along the foreshore, Beaton Park is a kids’ paradise with the Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space featuring a sensory walkway, flying fox, play equipment, community garden, exercise equipment and wheelchair access. A delight for kids of all ages, including the big ones.

Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club

Founded in 1897, the Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club caters to competitive yachting, power boating and water sports. Offering year-round events, many join for the social aspect as much as the sailing opportunities. Situated on Birdwood Parade Reserve, the function centre is popular for special occasions, including weddings thanks to its riverside location.

With a median property price of over three million dollars, Dalkeith remains one of Perth’s most affluent suburbs. The area attracts high income professionals from sectors like healthcare, law, and finance and their families, with majority of homes in this area owner-occupied.
